I'll be busy for a while but let me know what you think of the like button thingy I added. It's the smiley face tab.

Re: Star rating system
I really like the new rating system but do hope that using the sad face is used properly and will not start arguments between members.

I think the emoticons are much better than "thanks"
.
The sad face might be good if people want to empathize with a sad situation.

I would have been happy with just a thumbs up symbol but this is okay too. Better than thanking people.

It is a lot of time and energy and sometimes money to do anything on forums to make changes.
And to run a forum.
I am grateful for anything that comes about.
That is just my opinion which isn't worth two spits in the wind.
I am happy we have Rob doing this instead of the alternative.
Us southern folk may be blunt but you see what you get and we are forgiving.

Re: Star rating system
I think Rob is doing a bang up job here and working hard to accommodate everyone as much as possible. I really don't care either way about the smiley or star or like buttons, seems like a popularity thing maybe or high schoolish ?, but others may like them a lot, so hopefully most will be happy with it.
Either way, I appreciate that Rajun has done so much hard work for others, too.

Together, trees make an ecosystem that tempers the extremes of heat & cold, stores lots of water, & makes a lot of humidity. In this environment, trees can live to be very old. To get to this point, the community must remain intact no matter what.

Re: Star rating system
I love the way it is right now. You can control which reactions people have to choose from. I really don't want to get into feeling judged or disapproval being thrown at my posts, so I just disabled the frown and thumbs down from my posts. Although there might be times when it is appropriate, like someone who has a pet or family member die, some people can be sensative to it and I prefer to do without it completly to try to keep things positive. You can even disable all the reactions if you want. I really hope the negative ones are rarely used. If we don't like something we can discuss it, let a mod know or scroll on by. JMHO.
I think Rob is doing great too, even if he does spell Tomatohaven t-o-m-a-t-o-j-u-n-c-t-i-o-n. I think its just the Louisianna accent coming out in his writing.
