Random and miscellaneous pollinator photos
My dear husband requested that I grow a Cherokee Purple this year as it has his favorite tomato. I didn't start seeds for any so I went to my favorite independently-owned nursery to pick one up. While I was there I saw these bees having a good time on Bidens and Sallyfun blue salvia.

I love seeing those bees. Great plants too. I have had my eye on those Bidens for awhile now. My grower only grows the yellow ones and I do enjoy watching the bees use those. They also bring a nice bright color to the gardens too.

The other bee I caught on a Lavender Lace cuphea at the nursery where I bought the hummingbird mint.

Re: Random and miscellaneous pollinator photos
I had bees out on the few sunny days we had in February on crocus.
Then I noticed this one at the fountain Feb 20th. I watched as it investigated a drop of water. After it touched the drop it started cleaning off that foot like crazy then just wandered around getting feet wet without notice. Nice to see them coming out again.

Additional bee porn
Another plant nursery bee, this time on alyssum. Bees are so easy to attract.

If you have bees around...SpookyShoe wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 11:28 am Another plant nursery bee, this time on alyssum. Bees are so easy to attract.
I went 4 years without seeing a honey bee in my garden. It was so sad. Then I saw and whole bunch of them and noticed that they were trying to nest in my BBQ. Sadly I had to open the lid so that they would move on. It was another year before I started seeing the honey bees again.

When I go to a nursery for plants I also look where the bees are and try and get their favorite plants.

The thing I always see honeybees on is my butterfly weed, the orange stuff.

More bees....
I had no idea they like blueberry blossoms. Plus I had no idea anyone grew blueberries in this area. The other flower is, of course, a zinnia.

Blueberry honey is delicious. Hives are taken into the fields to pollinate.I've had Rufous hummingbirds feed on a blueberry I keep in a pot.
Raspberries also do well in a pot and bees adore the blossoms.

I watched the bees today for quite a while during breaks while working outside.

I couldn't get a good photo of him. But these are obviously the same creature.

Looks like something related to the Skippers, with the way they hold their wings.

Another nursery bee
I think this is Chinese forget-me-not. If anybody out there is looking to attract bees you have many, many options.

I have a lot of black carpenter bees right now. They are too large to get into many of the flowers, and they are amusing when they try to fit themselves into tiny spaces.
This one was on the African blue basil.
