Have you seen this? The thing that impressed me the most was the "Non-GMO" bit, since I have read about a similar purple flesh tomato developed by inserting snap dragon genes in his DNA..

Will you grow it?

Many people are questioning Baker creek on his Instagram, but according to the description of the variety it was from a natural mutation

Well I have grown "purple" flesh strawberry before, Purple Wonder. And we already have blue skin cherry tomatoes. No I don't have a concern about it being GMO.

Also I want to say tomato color designation is a little confusing. People started calling blue tomatoes purple, where as previously purple were the brownish Russian tomato traits. If I am getting the description correctly, seems like this one should be categorized as a blue tomato.

My only question is how disease resistant and productive it will be. Except for one or two variety, blue tomato generally never amaze in the yield factor, or taste for that matter, but I know there are lots of new breeds developed now with better traits. I haven't grown the Rebel Starfighter series yet so I'm looking forward to that. It seems to me at this time generally the bicolor variety that has antho-blushing performs better than the ones that are fully antho. But no I'm not going to jump on this one just because it's purport to have more antioxidants, if a lot of people rave about the taste, yield and disease resistance then I would.

I'd grow it, but I've not yet had a blue tomato I like either. And since I always want to grow 50 more varieties than I have space for, I'll wait to see what kind of reviews it gets on taste before I sacrifice a growing space for it. I would like to grow the Rebel Starfighter next year though. Does anyone know where you can buy the seeds? I hoping the MMMM Santa might send me some, but just in case that doesn't happen I'd love to know where to get some.

They were out of stock in all the vendors so I bought from Etsy.

Is the norfolk snapdragon tomato already out and about?

Its quite a coincidence but not sure the timing supports these guys selling a copy of the norfolk. Plus it would be a huge litigation issue.

But it is defenetly uncanny.

I think I'll be very tempted to try this one, but the seeds probably won't be available outside of North America for quite some time ...
It's probably better to wait for reviews anyway.

From what I've been reading, they are going to go the MIGardener route and sell you 5 seeds of this for $5. I think I'll hold off until 2025 and just get 5 seeds for the cost of a postage stamp via a Facebook seed swap group.

Life is short! Grow ALL the tomatoes!

The link to Rare Seeds no longer works and a search on their site does not produce a listing for this. I wonder what is going on.

I can see why for special variety with limited amount. MIgardener overall is super generous, I have helped start garden for several people thanks to their affordable seeds. You should be more concerned with F1 tomato seeds becoming overpriced. $1 per seed is getting to be normal at this rate as F1 become more and more popular and marketed. Of course youtubers are telling people the only correct way to grow tomato plants are single stem only and close together, so you need to buy more seeds, now you are selling 10 or 15 F1 tomato seeds for $8 that's a win.

Well I received Baker's Creek catalog and it's on the front page. I guess they're really trying entice us, this is a preemptive on the other purple gmo tomato which is smart.
