His Pepper X looks like Big Mustard Mama:
https://pepperhead.com/shop/big-mustard-mama/
The creator of the "mama" line of peppers said he had a hotter pepper than the reaper several years ago, but Guiness doesn't hold the competition every year.
It's unfortunate for breeders of anything that traditional breeding methods do not qualify for intellectual property rights. That's a large part of why we see so many hybrid seeds, and it would probably be the best bet for the Pepper X owner to hybridize his creation in order to protect it.

This one was a while in coming. Good to hear it's official now that Pepper X holds the Guinness Book world record for the most Scoville units (aveage 2.69 million, says the article).

I'm glad he's going to file a patent on it. Not a fan of big heat here. I don't go much past jalapeno and similar and cook with only a smidge of cayenne if any is called for. A little tingle is fine but that's about it.

If you like just a little tingle without loading up a recipe with peppers the super hots are a good move.
Just a pinch in mayonnaise or something.
Jalapenos are like bell peppers to me because they've had the heat bred out of them or something.

I don't think I am ready for this. I tried making Carolina Reaper sauce, made everyone in the house cough. Just 2oz of the Reaper with 32oz of bellpepper, was still hotter than the 100% habanero.

Ghost pepper is as hot as I've tried and that was an accident.maxjohnson wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 2:26 pm I don't think I am ready for this. The reapers I grew were paper thin and more like an ornamental. Fatali, a yellow superhot from Africa was my favorite. It has a nice citrus flavor.worth1 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 3:08 pmGhost pepper is as hot as I've tried and that was an accident.maxjohnson wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 2:26 pm I don't think I am ready for this. I hear Primos are pretty tasty. The breeder of Orange Carbonero likes the flavor of Primos among superhots, anyway, IIRC.
