Safflower
How many of you grow safflower?
I've grown some Corrales Azafrán a couple times, and I really liked it. It seems to germinate well in anything I've ever planted it in, and it seems to grow well in strong sun or shade. The seeds are large (like medium-ish sunflower seeds), and they germinate abundantly and fast (in like three to five days), in cool or warm weather. They're easy to direct-seed, and they're easy to start in trays and transplant. Very easy to grow. The leaves and calyces get very sharp, later in the season, though! The plants are short, and the flowers are nice; they don't last all season long, but they're out for a fair while.
Now, I'm kind of wanting to expand to other varieties of safflower. I see a red kind, a yellow kind, and pictures of a white kind. Mine was orange.

Re: Safflower
Have not grown safflower before. Are you planning to press seeds for oil?

Nope. I just like to grow it, but we have a jar full of petals (they have uses).
