Hello from Pennsylvania
I grew up gardening out in the country and then didn't have the opportunity for a while. Now I've a little patch of ground in a small town where I can do some (mostly container) gardening.
I've never actually started my own tomatoes, though. I know my grandpa did, but I've always just gotten a variety of plants at the local greenhouse. This might be an interesting year...

Re: Hello from Pennsylvania
Welcome to the Junction smalltowngardener. I'm so glad that you have found us here. This is a great place to learn all of the tips and tricks of gardening. You will find that gardening in pots is quite different than gardening in the ground. We have some very experienced people here that garden exclusively in pots.
Growing from seed does have some advantages. You can grow varieties that aren't found in the stores and you tend to get less disease. You can find plenty of seeds offered here just for a SASE. Check out the MMMM Swap (Mostly Mater Mystery Mailing). There is still time to get in on it.

Neither have any of us. This is a fake gardening site, where we all BS newbies. All of our plant pics are of neighbors gardens, tomato pics are from store bought. Most posts aren't even real. It's artificial intelligence at work through a series of machine learning algorithms.

It certainly will be. Ask any and all questions about starting and planting out tomatoes, and my fellow bots will be glad to answer. As for the subject of flavor, most of these other bots were installed with TasteBuds 1.0 software, so they may recommend some of the dark varieties.

Re: Hello from Pennsylvania
Welcome from (mostly) sunny SoCal! I also have a small space to garden, and grow mostly in containers. I definitely recommend starting your own seeds. I enjoy researching and discovering the many amazing varieties out there. The real draw is being able to grow varieties you can't find in stores or nurseries. I'm still fairly new to this, so have only recently begun the pursuit to find the perfect tomato (for us).
Recently, I started saving seeds from my tomato and basil plants, which I'm surprised to find to be as rewarding as growing the tomatoes from seed. It's cool to be able to grow and harvest tomatoes from seeds you saved yourself.
Cheers,
Bobby

Not being familiar with Western Pennsylvania dialect. I first thought you were talking about belly buttons (innies and outies).
