tomato plant mystery!

I would love to know what's up with these tomato plants!!!! I grew them from seed indoors under lights so they have not been exposed to the outside environment this is literally how they grew..any idea's would be great

What variety? What potting mix did you use? Sometimes the component of the potting mix can be contaminated with a herbicide.

those are big zacs....not so big after all they still look the same. I used this stuff called alaska potting soil and got this big ole bag of peat moss from lowes I used worm castings as well...most of all my tomato plant pretty much ended up looking like that some are finaly looking better.but not amazing..like I had hoped. I had 50 plants 10 varitys and have 34 left so far ..

They seem to be tall and spindly which tells me the light was too far removed as they grew. Generally the light source should be an inch or two above the seedlings as they develop and raised as the plant grows maintaining the inch distance. As for the leaf curl it could be the potting soil mixture has too much nitrogen and not neutral enough in pH. Peat moss can be toxic to tender plants when too much is in the potting mix.

Hello AKgardener. That second photo looks very much like tomato (tobacco) mosaic virus with the fern-like foliage. I hope I'm wrong.

aww as far as the lights I had then where they should of been most of my tomatoes grew normal with a few that looked like well little out of sorts. but it all sounds like something definalty went wrong either my faulty or the soils. lessoned learned and keep trying!!!!

soil temp could be a problem,maybe too cool?
Light depends on the type of grow lights.
Mine are about 1 foot above the plants
LED or 5k,6500k mix of lights

You might want to snip a leaf, bag it up in a zip top baggie, and take it over to the Cooperative Extension Service to see if they have an idea. It definitely looks like disease to me rather than growing conditions. I believe some diseases can be transmitted via seed. Good luck!
