The Junction's 2023 Giant Tomato Contest

The contest is opened for the 2023 growing year. I have made another seed offer of tomatoes that can get over 2lbs in the Seed Offer Forum. Anyone is welcome to participate with seed of their choice.

It would be nice to have you start a grow log but at a minimum a final picture and weight of your fruit is needed for judging.

There is no prize except your bragging rights and knowing you did a job well done!

The Big Pumpkin website is the place to go for growing information and if you can afford it, competition seeds. Here is an article on one member's growing of a 4 lb Big Zac.

They are all virtual tomatoes to inspire real gardeners. The picture is AI generated. No tomato plants were burdened in its production and no seeds were used or produced.

Is the growing season long enough in Wisconsin to grow these monsters? :)

There are some monster yellow/orange tomatoes. I guess that I need to add one to the offering for you next year.

I have one that I may be able to participate with. I saved "Red Oxheart" and "Orange Oxheart" from a local Mennonite farm market where they were selling 2 - 4 lb tomatoes from these varieties all summer. The reds were a bit bigger, but I bought several really large oranges too.

There you go! If you look at last year's results we did not get any huge tomatoes so you just might have a winner there!
