Uncle Blaine's (Bain's) Pink Beefsteak
Uncle Bain's Pink Beefsteak. Does anyone have seed for this? It is no longer listed anywhere that I can think of including Seed Savers Exchange.

Neil Lockhart of Oblong, Illinois (IL LO N) has been the source of seeds for several growers. If you are a SSE person and can contact Neil, he is generally very generous with supplying seeds.

Re: Uncle Bain's Pink Beefsteak
I see a Uncle Blaine's Pink Beef listed. Not sure if that is the same tomato or not.

@MissS where did you first hear of this variety, I looked it up since I got curious, couldn't find a pic anywhere. Have you grown it before? Can you describe it?
Thanks

Re: Uncle Bain's Pink Beefsteak
I was going through my personal seed log and noticing my oldest varieties and deciding if any were worth replacing or trying to grow out this past year. I had 4 seeds of Uncle Bain's Pink Beefsteak and planted 3. One seed finally germinated after 2 months but it failed to ever get it's first true leaves. I now have only 1 seed left to try to save seed for this variety.
It is a pink, 12-16oz potato leafed beefsteak and a favorite of the person who donated it to the MMMM whoever that may be.
The listing for which you all are referring to is for Uncle Blaine's Pink Beefsteak. My handwritten pack says Uncle Bain's. I am hoping that they are one and the same but both are quite rare these days so need to be grown out and saved.

Blaine or Bain I still can't find anything on it. But I did find an Uncle E.
Thanks for adding some info on it though, it sounds interesting.

Re: Uncle Bain's Pink Beefsteak
@Paulf yes I saw that this morning. Uncle Bain's must be the same tomato as Uncle Blaine's. They are both sourced by Neil Lockhart and have the same description. I am going to correct my seed log and the pack that I have the one seed for. I can find absolutely nothing on an Uncle Bain's. I just think that someone made a mistake as they were labeling seed packs as so often happens. I hope that I am making the right decision.
See how easily varieties can get a new name? People don't even have to intentionally rename them. Sometimes it just happens.

Re: Uncle Bain's Pink Beefsteak
I don't like uncertainty so I have gotten in touch with the seed source where my seeds came from. It was a typo. The seed is "Uncle Blaine's Pink Beefsteak".
I hope to grow the seed out to share with you all this year.
