SKUNKED...what a revoltin' development!

Had 2-5 right on the third try, and a LOT of possibilities for the 1st letter on the final three; leave it to The Gotch to find all the wrong ones...

Yes, the dreaded X. A Phew way trumps an X. I really don’t mind the Phew and I better not since I get my share of them.

What are the other words? Impressive, Splendid. What do you get for the congratulatory word for a solve in two guesses? In three?

Actually, on two tries you get 'magnificent' and with three, 'impressive'

One or probably two tries is just luck. If they happen to use your starting word as the word of the day there is no skill in that. Beyond that it is dependent on your starting word, your skill, vocabulary and again, luck. If there is 12 words you can make with one letter missing, hard to argue it is a vocabulary or skill thing to choose the correct one. Gotch, how come you don't post your grids?

Read there are currently roughly 2,000 plus words in the wordle dictionary, but more than 7 times that number that the puzzle will accept. So the great majority of words one might enter have never been a solution to the puzzle. Stepping stone words that might get you closer, but not the destination.

Where did you see that? Not sure all the stuff people say or write are based on fact and knowledge. Unless it came from the NY Times, not sure how they would know.

I like the stakes involved in Wordle. Price of admission is inline with what I wish to pay. I get to stimulate a few flabby brain cells for a few minutes. If I get the X, who really cares, tomorrow is a new day.

ASIDE from the positively emasculating, self-indicting indignity...?

The articles seem to agree more or less on the numbers, but I don’t know if they are just copying other’s erroneous ideas. I admittedly skimmed the articles just for the numbers of words possible.

Karstopography, those articles are from prior to the NY Times taking over Wordle. The first is from Feb 14 the second from January. They didn' buy wordle until Feb. I had read those articles previously myself when I was curious what first words some others were using.

Gotch. Really? Your whole masculinity is tied up in Wordle? Sorry to hear that. Once you hit "submit" on your final guess just click on the "share" button and it will say it was copied to your clipboard. Then right click here in your post and click paste. By the way, you get to post the good ones as well as the bad, lol.
