I think your right. At this point I believe that we have done everything we can on this end. It has to be something else.

Re: I stopped receiving email notifcations of subscribed threads etc
I don't get emails either, and I use Chrome. I haven't gotten them for a very long time. I only get email notification of PMs although I have my settings set to get notifications for any thread I am subscribed to. I get the notifications here on the forum but not by email. I have also noticed that there does not appear to be any automatic subscription to threads. Even threads I have started I am not subscribed to unless I do it manually. I just double checked and it says currently I am not subscribed to any threads. So I am going to try subscribing to a couple and see what happens and how long the subscription lasts. It seems to expire.

OK interestingly, when I click on the wrench while inside this thread it says I am subscribed to it. But when I go to settings and look it says I am not subscribed to any threads. I can't figure it out either.

You may think that it says subscribe when you hit the wrench, but click on it and see what happens. I think what you are seeing is that an action is needed to subscribe.

Re: I stopped receiving email notifcations of subscribed threads etc
I just figured that out a little while ago. It seems very misleading to me, although it might be just me, if you click on the wrench, and it says "subscribe topic" with a little box next to and the box is checked, that means you are subscribed when in reality it means you are NOT subscribed, lol. When I clicked on it that went away. But even topics I have started I am not subscribed to unless I do it manually for each one.

Yep. One of the little quirks of the site I guess. It took me awhile to figure that out too.

I think we can fix your problem.
The thread subscription is controlled by a check box when you make the post. Click Full Editor and Preview, or whatever it says at the bottom. Then, below the text field in there, there are tabs below for Options Attachments Topic/Post Reactions.
In the Options tab, the list is
Disable BBCode
Disable smiles (no don't do this oh no we need smilies!
Do not blah blah
Attach Signature
Notify when a reply is posted.
Those five have checkboxes and will stay with the same selection for subsequent posts across the whole forum. So you only have check it once. Mine are selected as
0
0
0
check
check
That last checkbox is what fills your "subscribed threads". I had THAT issue last year, same as your, with the wrench misleading me and eventually saw where the auto subscribe is initiated.

Re: I stopped receiving email notifcations of subscribed threads etc
I tried whitelist of TJ with ublock, no change. From file creation dates it looks like my firefox update was 5/27 with a subsequent update 6/12, so the 6/3/21 email stops shouldn't have anything to do with browser/cookies.
Probably my isp is blocking the mail as spam, I guess. They filed for bankruptcy a while back, so maybe this is cost cutting measure... :lol

Just an idea for more troubleshooting:
Try changing your TJ email to one from another provider and see if you get notifications at the new email address. If it works then it's probably your email provider causing the problem. I use Gmail, and mine works. So, if you're not using Gmail, you can get a free Gmail account to test it. Be sure to check your spam folder on Gmail if you don't see it.

Re: I stopped receiving email notifcations of subscribed threads etc
I just went and looked and my check marks under full editor and preview are the same as yours, 0,0,0, check, check. But I don't know if that auto populates the same on every thread. If I remember I will look when I make another post, because I don't bother to with every post I make on a topic. And I just looked on this one and it does automatically put those choices in for me, but I still don't notified every time. Just started getting the emails again with whatever settings I changed already, so I will have to see if that continues.

Re: I stopped receiving email notifcations of subscribed threads etc
I just knew I shouldn't have started touching different buttons.
Logging into this Chromebook under my account and password produces a split screen. The upper 1/3 is magnified, with the lower 2/3 (the same image) not magnified. Any ideas?
I can log in as "a guest" with no problems, as I am now forced to do.

[mention]Tormato[/mention] Were you in the control panel here on TJ or were you on the control panel on your Chromebook?

I'm not gonna bother with another email. There was a time I had no problems doing stuff like that but...not worth it now.

I didn't realize we were still having problems with emails. I'll check with the webhost and see what I can do.

don't bother on my account rajun...I'll just check the notifications once in a while and clear them afterward.

439 EDT on 7/8/22...I started getting the notifications coming through again! What changed? Nothing on my end. Maybe my ISP, or something on the server end, but nothing that I did. Three notifications already in a few hours, working like normal I suppose.

Try another browser? or email program see what happens. Chrome and I didn't get along so I use Opera or Firefox.

My notifications were taking a few days to come through but lately they seem to be working just fine. I have no idea why they were not working.

Re: I stopped receiving email notifcations of subscribed threads etc
Well...I got 6 email notifications in that first 15 hours, then they stopped coming through. So I'd say my isp must be seeing it as spam at their level. Still no big deal, I just come on and check the (bell)notifications on the website.
