Re: Wordle
"I had 3 correct in right place by second go...."
I had four (4), with, ala @Gardadore, nothing but dumb luck with the second word; got it on the third try...courtesy of more dumb luck.
Further research showed that with the first three (3) correct, #4 wrong, and #5 correct, there are another five (5) total correct words, per Herr Google.

@Amateurinawe; "I broke all my own rules about finding a single word with the likely remaining letters and resorted to guessing"
Just like ALL those inane superstitions we have for our sports teams/preferred personal outcomes (anyone that says they have any...welp...they'll lie to you's about other things too!), they're only weird if they don't work.
And THEY_HAVE_ALL_WORKED_AT_LEAST_ONCE, am I right?

Re: Wordle
@Cornelius_Gotchberg no it's logical , if I have established some good letters, and then I work out all the possible words it can be, it makes sense to forget the current word and try to form a word from a combination of those letters, hence I get 5 extra letter hits. If I use one of my words and there are a few possible combinations I am on averages likely to get it wrong based on the number of possible combinations. I can reduce the odds and possible remaining letters 5 at a time rather than say 2 at a time.
I didn't do that and nearly ran out of Go's because I was only guessing 2 letters each go.
However that doesn't always work if the possible remains words use letters like fgykz or some awkward set of consonents. In that case I sometimes go for trying to have a word with as many of them as possible. If I am guessing the two remaining letters then even a new word with 3 of the possible letters is increasing my chances.
I was just being impulsive and in a hurry cos I didn't do the wordle in the morning and was late.....

Re: Wordle
Wow, really? You only had two letters and your mind went right away to that word? Interesting.

Re: Wordle
My first two attempts had eliminated all of the vowels that were not in the correct answer.
I had one of the consonants.
Based on the remaining letters left in the "bank," one of the possibilities turned out to be the correct answer.
One possibility I saw as a correct answer could have been an ingredient in tequila.

Wordle 383 3/6

I got lucky today...I eliminated 3 vowels with my initial try, used the one consonant hit in combination with two other vowels and guessed right on the third set.

Forgot to include a letter found in third guess in the fourth try, but it worked out anyway.

One of those days where there are just too many possible words you can make and guessing the correct one just luck. I was one letter away after the first guess and it still took me 5.

You's Wordle Junkies (a group which includes, but not limited to, me!) use the same opener each time, rotate through several favorites, or allow your Muse to inspire a choice on a whim?
I rotate mostly between ADIEU and OUIJA.

Re: Wordle
I rotate through, ADIEU was my first, forgot my second but it will come to me, lol, and SLATE which the internet claims gives the highest number of correct guesses in the least amount of guesses. Oh yes, the second was NOISY. I find it helpful to get that Y in there sometimes. Today I used SLATE.

Re: Wordle
I use AISLE first then sometimes follow up with TOUCH depending if there is no vowel hit first time, today it was tramp as second word.
