Honeycomb Hybrid cherry
I just picked up a pack. It seemed to have limited release last year. Burpee has it for this year. Does anyone have any 2020 trial reports on it?

A guy on Houzz grew it in TX and says it is EXCELLENT. Let us know what you think Tormato!

It'll likely be in a side-by-side-by-side trial with SunGold and Ambrosia Gold.

I saw them at Wally World and bought a pack. I have a dozen in the basement under grow lights. We will plant six and give away the rest.

It's proving quite popular in the UK. Seed companies selling it say it has higher sugar content and less splitting than Sungold, with a hint of honey aftertaste.

Re: Honeycomb Hybrid cherry
Honeycomb was the first of all of my tomato seeds to germinate! I had seen some good reviews of it here, so when I saw it on a 50% off Burpees rack, I got a pack, not that I didn't have enough varieties! I also have Sunsugar, WOW! Sungold, and eight more cherries and grapes to compare them to, for flavor, production, and heat and disease resistance.

So I'm curious. How did everyone like Honeycomb Hybrid? Is it worth growing again. How did it compare to SunGold and Sun Sugar? How was it's taste, production and disease resistence?

Re: Honeycomb Hybrid cherry
We grew them last year and will be growing them again this year. You have to let them fully ripen on the vine and then they are great. We have grown Sun Orange in the past and like the Honeycomb Hybrid better. Production was excellent like most cherries. I had no more or less disease problems with them than all of the others last year. My daughter loves them and my wife said it is the only cherry we need to plant. Then she found one that looks like a small Cherokee Purple and decided we need to try it.

Re: Honeycomb Hybrid cherry
Of all those cherries I grew last season, those were the worst. More than half split, and just did not produce many I could eat. I pulled the plants out, eventually, and used the spots for later crops. Hopefully they grow better for everyone else!

Either a squirrel or a chipmunk usually nips down one and only one transplant a year in my garden, and then decides it doesn't like the taste of tomato plants. Guess which one in 2021?

Re: Honeycomb Hybrid cherry
As I mentioned in the Super Sweet 100 thread, this will be the 3rd year I'm growing Honeycomb Hybrid, I think they are as good as Sungold, but slightly different. They do seem to split a bit less, but they will certainly split. Beautiful long trusses. I do continue to grow Sungold, and this year I'm going to try Sunorange, also.

I’m really liking this one, the whole family has given it their stamp of approval. Way longer trusses than Sungold with less splitting.
