The KitchenAid mixer is a real joy to have.Julianna wrote: ↑Sat Oct 30, 2021 4:52 pm I have an electric hand mixer! I have wanted a kitchenaid for decades now.
My husband wanted a tortilla press but didnt want to pay lile $40.
I just ordered an embossed rolling pin. Coming from Russia. We will.see how it is when it comes which should be December or January.
I don't always use it but nothing replaces it for what it can do.
Due to the poor plastic quality of the attachments and the high price I don't recommend them.
The tortilla press made an 8 inch meat patty out of an 8 ounce ball of ground chuck.
It was cooked in my new cast iron 12 inch pan to perfection.
The bun it went on was approximately 5 inches in diameter.
The meat shrank up to about 6 inches in diameter and got thicker.
Worked out perfectly.
Probably one of the best burgers I have had in awhile.
Now I'm thinking of modifying the tortilla press to make the upper press part adjustable.
This is the section I need to modify.

Re: Kitchen Tools
I think adjusting the hinges will be awesome! I can see so many uses. My husband just wanted to makr a lot of flat breads. He can barely.eat a meal without bread. Always bread or.rice.
I know I could do more with a kitchenaid. I wish I had gotten one years ago so the sting of the price wouldnt be so recent. It is something we could totally afford but he will never go for it.

They have refurbished appliances.
It's where I got mine.
Saved hundreds of dollars.
The MSRP on this one is the regular refurbished price not the new price of 500 some odd dollars.
Plus free shipping.

I will have to find out what could.convince my husband to want to spend that. I made this graph and presentation for buying a washer and dryer when me moved to this house. Maybe something similar .worth1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 9:10 am Go to the KitchenAid outlet store.

Re: Kitchen Tools
The attachments vary in quality. Many are plastic, not all. My dough hook I love and it is solid metal. I have the grinder which has never been out of the package, and the juicer is only good when you need to do several lemons, and if you have a problem with hand strength. I do because I am getting old now, lol, and even more so because I have osteoarthritis in my hands. Since I bought one of the citrus presses though I probably won't even use it as much as I did. The dough hook makes bread a breeze without a breadmaker. Pour all the ingredients in, turn it on, set a timer for 3 or 5 or 7 minutes, depending on what you are making and then just take it out to rise and then bake. The kneeding was always the messiest and most time consuming part for me making bread by hand. Add a scale and you don't even need measuring cups. Put the mixer bowl on the scale, zero the scale and add each ingredient by weight and then turn it on. Wait till its done kneeding, put it in the pan and let it rise and then put it right in the oven to bake. One bowl, one pan, fresh bread. and the house smells like heaven.

Re: Kitchen Tools
The speed with which i could just do regular cookies, cakes, and bread would be worth it. I stated I wanted one and my husband said Ok. He called his sisters today and tried to complain I wanted this pricey thing and told me later they told him he should not only get me that but also get.me.one at full price in the color i like . Kind of back fired on him . But even i am not willing to pay $300 more just for a color.

I got a KitchenAid food processor for almost a 100 dollars off or something at the grocery store.
It was grey and I painted it yellow.

Re: Kitchen Tools
The disk of the old grinder is 58mm wide with 6mm center hole. The grinder is MUZ6FW4, which is an attachment to my old Bosch universal machine.
Now I found that I could have ordered a coarser disk from Germany https://dein-ersatzteil.de/p/lochscheib ... 2329706784

Nothing like turning the thing on and sitting down and having a drink while you're waiting on it to finish mixing.
I've even used mine to mix small batch sausage from time to time.

Stopped off on the way home from work and picked up a 12 inch Lodge cast iron lid for my skillet and pan.
Using it as we speak with the pan.
Also got an instant read thermometer.
This one is from ThermoPro.
I'll let y'all know how it works.
