...and ANOTHER one from Upstate
Greetings from the southern shores of Lake Ontario. Longtime gardener, first time poster. I joined Tomatoville a long time ago but I've been off for a few years. I was sad to come back to see Carolyn & Remy had passed and the place kind of quiet.
I've been gardening for about 20 years. Last year I built some raised beds as my "in ground" garden bed was getting shaded out by growing trees & was long passed it's prime sun exposure. I'm loving the raised beds. Last fall I covered them with row cover & plastic & was able to harvest kale, chard & mache through the winter. I had some issues with snow & collapsed frames that I need to work on for next year.
I'm a huge tomato fan. I was lucky enough to get some of Carolyn's seeds from Farmer Shawn, all varieties have germinated except one, (I'm still working on it). I look forward to sharing the seeds! I'm hyper focused on peppers this year, I've never been terribly successful with them. Last year I bought plants & they did fairly well in the raised beds but they did get crowded out by my tomatoes. This year I've started from seed with a new grow light set up and it's going really well. As usual, I've started way too many seeds & am quickly covering all flat surfaces with trays full of solo cups & jury-rigged lights all over the place.
I look forward to hearing about everyone's gardening adventures & soaking up more gardening wisdom.

Ahoy and welcome from the North Atlantic.
Kudos on the overwintered vegs! Looking forward to hear about your Carolyn's tomatoes, I hope they bring you a sweet bounty. She had such a great eye for especially tasty ones.

Welcome, LJ in NY!
I love that there are so many tomato gardeners in your state. What's your hardiness zone? Google says it might be anywhere from 3a to 7b. I didn't realize different parts of New York had such vastly different kinds of weather. Idaho's like that, too, I guess; so, I shouldn't be surprised!
