Adding an avatar
I'm having difficulty uploading my avatar. When I tried this was the message received:
"This file cannot be displayed because the extension doc is not allowed."
I don't have a clue what that means.
No cut and paste option, eh?

Re: Adding an avatar
SusieQ, I'm thinking you need a .jpg file. That's what I used and it loaded fine.
I resized my image to 125 X 125 pixels so it would fit.
.doc files are usually documents, so they wouldn't be expected as an avatar image.

Re: Adding an avatar
You need to find a way to convert your file to a .jpg or .bmp or whatever is acceptable. I did this by copying my picture into my drawing program, selecting the picture, right-clicking on it, and selecting the option Convert, then Bitmap, I think. Then save that new pic.

Re: Adding an avatar
That would be great, Rajun. So... how do I do that? I tried to cut/paste to this post, but that didn't work. It could be my computer. I think I'm still on an operating system that's 2 decades old. LOL

Is the pic on your computer or can I go take it off of the internet?

You also have to be in the full editor & preview mode to cut and paste. That is the button right below your reply box.

Re: Adding an avatar
Okay SuzyQ it is resized and you have to place it yourself. The only way that I could do it is if I had your password to your account. If you go into your user control panel. Which you will find when you click on your name in the upper right hand corner of the screen. There is a dropdown menu and select your user control panel. Go to Profile. Then click on edit avatar and see if you can drag the image there. If that doesn't work then download the new image to your computer and then upload from there. Feel free to PM me if you want me to do this for you.

Wait SuzyQ, I made a mistake. I doubt that it will work for you yet. I will work on it again.

Also you can try to copy the image off of that post (control c) and paste it (control v) when you're in Edit Avatar mode in your control panel.

Re: Adding an avatar
Well, I've tried this and that, and nothing seems to be working too well. MissS got the pic to work, and Nan has given me some other ideas to try. I'll give it another go when I'm fresher in the morning. Fingers crossed.
THANK YOU for all your help.

Here's the URL from MissS's resized one: download/file.php?id=535
You can just download it and then upload it as your avatar in your profile. To download it, right-click on the link above and save it (on Firefox click Save Link As; not sure what other browsers say).
