Re: Zupa pepper
I can still send some of the Lautrec. They are leftover from my planting. Already broken apart. Still good though.

Re: Zupa pepper
Hi everyone,
I am from Canada, new on this forum. I see there is enormous amount of information to deal with. I will enjoy any help available.
From the beginning I wanted to participate in the seeds swap, especially peppers, but at that time the post service was in strike. I also questioned myself about the quality of my seeds and how to send better the envelope and the pre-posted envelope. I could use some advice here. Concerning the pepper seeds, I started to germinate those gathered from the year 2024. Some of them germinated in 3 days (!) other gradually in 5-10, other not at all. Do you test your seeds before sending ? I think I know how to gather seeds, but how do you test briefly and remove from the start the ones that are bad ? I had two varieties that I gathered seeds from late ripen peppers, they looked nice but none of them germinated !
Rarely but true, I even had trouble germinating some commercial seeds. In one of such experiences I found out about Zupska Rana or (Zupa) pepper. These seeds are no more available to buy (out of stock). I know that most of you already germinated your seeds. It is late, but not too late for peppers. I wonder, does someone still have Zupska Rana seed in stock ? I will be happy to get some and also to share what I have and I know it worked this year. Thank you !

Welcome to the forum.
Some of us think that we know how to save pepper seeds. And then we question that, when seeds, often enough, don't germinate. I've learned to leave a pepper on the plant until it is overripe, almost to the point of rotting. Some people say that a pepper that has just turned color, may not have fully developed seeds. I cut off the exterior, leaving the seeds still attached to the interior. Giving them plenty of air, I only remove them after they are fairly dry, and they easily detach.
I have Zupa/Zupska Rana, plenty of seeds from 2021, and lesser amounts from 2022. I will send both. I'd like you to try to germinate most, or all, of the seeds, and let me know about the germination rates. It is a very early pepper, so starting a few weeks later than others likely won't be a problem in getting ripe ones.
As for how to mail small amounts of seeds, inexpensively, my envelope with the seeds inside should be self explaining. Please PM me a mailing address, and I'll try to get them out on Monday or Tuesday.

Re: Zupa pepper
Thank you, Tormato !
I am running a germination test with seeds of Fresno peppers; the seeds were collected, washed, submerged in water, separated those from the bottom from those from the top. I expect that only or mostly those from the bottom will germinate. I knew we do this with tomato seeds, but someone from a seed shop fair told me they do the same with peppers.
