@kdlund121 You can ask for any tomato that you like. It does not need to be on the current list as nobody knows what is still to come in. You can also ask for it and somebody just might have it in their stash and send it in.

The list is here

There are several lists in the MMMM sub-forum.

The Master List tomatoes and Master List peppers were both updated a couple of weeks ago. Many packages have come in since then, so they will be updated again, in a couple of days. I will NOT insert any new varieties into the previous lists. They will be added by new posts in their corresponding threads.

I'm overloaded with filling seeds requests, so I likely will not have time to update any other types of seeds. After all, it is a mostly mystery mailing. ;)

The Spoiler Alert thread will have some, but not all, of what is coming in for non-tomato/pepper seeds.

The X means the variety is no longer in the MMMM inventory. I am no longer deleting varieties from the lists, as it takes too much time to then add them back to the lists, in the future. If the variety comes back in, just deleting the X is faster.

I finally found my container of Italian/Paste/Plum/Canner category tomatoes, which has been misplaced for almost a year. So, many of the X-ed varieties on that list might be available.
Hello @Tormahto

I have been through the master lists and the varieties that are missing this year.
I have at the moment at least 3 varieties that are missing this year.
Is it a good idea to target this varieties and grow them in order to have plenty of seeds to send next year ?

Or do yo prefer to let it to chance ? :)

It's good to target anything not on the lists.

As for the missing ones on this year's master lists, that you have, have you done research on them, as to whether you actually want to grow them? When sending out packages, I usually include a "suggestion card" with a short list of varieties (from the ones sent) that would be greatly appreciated to be grown out and sent back in.

I do prefer to let it to chance, as too much organization would expose my errors.

Ok. Yes. I did not check yet if I have got varieties that are not on the lists at all.
Will do that :)

For example I am sure Figiel is on your lists .

Hi! I am a newbie to both gardening and forum-posting. I will apologize ahead if anything in my post is "off" :D

From the posts that I have read, my understanding is that I send an envelope containing a self-addressed envelope with my wishlist and stamps.

I live in the Philippines but I think I can arrange for someone to send abovementioned envelope

Q1: are you still accepting envelope with wishlist?
Q2: Is there a deadline every year?
Q3: How many global forever stamps should be included?
Q4: Should the number of self-addressed envelope match the number of stamp, e.g. 3 stamps = 3 self-addressed envelope?

Would you know if you have a specific growing season, or can you grow year round?

Go to the 2024/2025 wish list thread and post what you are looking for there. You can use the tomato master list thread to choose varieties. In the past, I've sent tomato seeds to a few people in the Philippines. They generally request Hot Weather (a category in the MMMM swap) or Cherry (another category) varieties.

There is no need to send stamps and envelopes, as participants in the swap cover the few people that have difficulty locating stamps/US cash.

PM me a mailing address, and work on that wish list. I can fit about 40 varieties into an envelope.

WOW! Just... WOW :o

Regarding growing season, we can grow tomato (and pepper) year round.

So... my wishlist is very ambitious  This is really a result of watching too much gardening and taste test videos on youtube which is feeding my obsession to grow food, shout-out to Jen and Lauren from TLC.

How are different tomatoes with the same name handled in labeling and listing?

There are two different Queen of the Night antho tomatoes out there, one is a salad size, and the other a beefsteak.
I hope to grow each someday, but not this year.
The salad size is available at these links as well as others:
https://bountyhunterseeds.com/product/q ... ht-tomato/
https://www.rareseeds.com/tomato-queen-of-the-night
https://www.gardenhoard.com/tomato-quee ... ganic.html
which look similar enough to be one tomato grown under different conditions.
I'm guessing this is the one currently on the master list.

I'm considering purchasing this one for next year ('already got, or getting, about 50 new to me to grow this year, several also new to the MMMM list)
which has the same name, but is a beefsteak:
https://graf-semena.com/product/korolev ... the-night/

So how to best disambiguate these two?
e.g. КОРОЛЕВА НОЧИ aka Queen of the Night
or Queen of the Night (German cultivar КОРОЛЕВА НОЧИ)
or just add the size?
Queen of the Night (antho small salad size)
Queen of the Night(antho beefsteak)

It looks like this cultivar was bred in Germany, with a name translated to Russian, and then to English.
Is there some authoritative organization that deals with keeping names unique internationally?

It's not for this swap, or me, to be an authority on accurate names of varieties. With such a volume of "new" to the swap varieties arriving each year, there is no way for me to do anything other than an attempt to put them into an applicable category. Just getting that right is quite a chore, as many varieties come in with no other information other than the tomato name.

Unless I'm missing things, it is very rare for multiple varieties using the exact same name. Serendipity is one, being a Dwarf and (I think) a large bicolor beefsteak. I haven't sorted out packs of those seeds, completely. (Dwarf) Cherokee Tiger is another. First it was listed as just Cherokee Tiger. Following years, it was also listed as Cherokee Tiger Black. This year there is a Cherokee Tiger Large (also a black?), and there is a distinguishable (I think) Cherokee Tiger Orange.

Several sources of Queen of the Night have come into the swap in the past 2 years. I will gather all of the packs and see if there is any info on size. I don't have the time to do it now, but I will eventually go through all of the participant correspondence to also look for descriptions. I'd expect nearly all, or perhaps all, original sources of seeds to be Baker Creek, as they are a major source of many participants' seeds sent into the swap.

Newbie here. Is there a max number of seed bags one can send in for the swap and is there a limit of how many bags per variety? I have 150 varieties growing this year.
Thanks!

No limits what so ever! If I have a lot, I will send in 30- 60 bags plus.

You trying to kill me, here? (Just kidding!)

Yes, there are no limits to what is sent in. However, there will be plenty of common varieties that I will not need. Maybe in late spring/early summer, if I get some rainy days, I will inventory everything to find out what is in surplus. And, I now "prefer" about 20 packets for each variety, although 10 is still OK. Something rare and very special (I decide that though a PM) can go into the Nifty Fifty part of the swap. That's 50 packs of a variety. Some also do a bit over 100, so that almost everyone in the swap can receive that variety.

Unless a variety is on a wish list, sending in one or two packs of a variety just slows things down too much, for me. Newbies who have nothing to trade are still welcome in the swap.

I'm currently in meltdown mode, illness after illness about every two weeks, that lasts about 10-12 days. Little sleep, so I'm back to being in a partial fog. The back is starting to hurt, too. Hopefully that goes away with some warm weather. If I can get outdoors, with the sun to my back, and no wind, I'll try packing things out there.

I think that I can finally get to the post office in a few days to mail packages.

As long as I'm healthy (enough) and doing the swap, things will have to change for the next one. It will basically have to go to spreading it out year long. After the spring/summer inventory, I'd like participants to pick the bulk of their seed requests, in the spring/summer, from the master lists. Later in the year, when packages arrive, participants can pick a much smaller wish list to round off their packages.

And, I'd like to do more with the Everything But The Kitchen Sink swap. This means sending out multiple boxes, not just one. The current one left here with (by volume) about 25% tomatoes, 25% beans/peas/legumes and about 50% "other". There are a lot more tomato varieties included than beans, due to their size. Depending on interest, there could be an all tomato box, a tomato & pepper box, or I'm open to other suggestions. I'll have time to discuss the EBTKS more, later in the year, as this will remain a swap for going out in late December/early January. Input can come at any time.

Well, back to sleep..I mean work, packing seeds.
