@GoDawgs In addition to your netting you may want to invest in some wolf urine. Put a couple of drops out and it will help to deter your deer. I use coyote urine for rabbits and squirrels.

That stuff work? If it does where's it found most affordably?
Took the road less travelled to Iron County four (4) weeks ago through Sawyer and Ashland Counties and the Chequamegon National Forest, there they warn against Assault Deer...on Steroids! The Gotch

@Cornelius_Gotchberg Since battling the deer here, I have learned that nothing works 100% of the time. The very best deer deterent is the Orbit Yard Enforcer Motion Activated Sprinkler. It's expensive but well worth it in the long run. The problem is that you need more than one to cover being assulted by all directions.
They coyote urine for the rabbits is fairly good. The best thing about it is that it actually will bring the coyotes in to check out the new scent in town. They do a great job at cleaning up the rabbit population. Once the rabbits are scarce then the coyotes move on.

We have coyotes and red fox in the neighborhood, so occasional visits aren't unheard of, but the job they're doing is less than good; maybe we'll give 'er a go next season.MissS wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 1:08 pmThey coyote urine for the rabbits is fairly good. Re: Got Deer???
At least I have no rabbit problems. They were completely absent for a long time but we're starting to see one every now and then. Fortunately, Lester kitty is on the ball. I think he found a nest with little ones because for three nights in a row he'd bring in his "dinner", baby bunnies, leaving only a foot or little gut pile. The third night I guess he'd had enough rabbit and left half of one. I gave it a toss out the back door.
It is good that he brings all this mess into one of the bathrooms which has vinyl flooring so any mess is an easy clean up.

I put a radio on a timer playing classic rock from 9 pm to 6 am . It keeps the coons off my chickens and corn and deer foraging on the mater patch. Your mileage might vary . In 4 years I have not seen a coon on deer track in the garden. When it comes to rabbits you are on your own

You can find it in the sporting goods stores during hunting season. Hunters put it on the soles of their shoes to cover their scent. I get mine off of Amazon. The cheapest way to get it is to find a coyote and wait until it has to go. Then place a ladle underneath to catch the flow. To attract coyotes, use it in the fall before they have made their dens to raise their young in.Cornelius_Gotchberg wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2024 9:24 amThat stuff work? Re: Got Deer???
I stuck a couple of magnetic surveillance cameras onto my car to monitor critters after the last squirrel invasion around Christmas. The cameras have an alarm system your choice sound, light or both. So I tried putting the lights on and it definitely scared off rabbits after two close encounters at night. Their tracks are all about but not near the car. Squirrel also retreated, I'm hoping the lights had something to do with it. Red fox!! Not bothered too much by the lights. Did take a detour multiple times all the same, and it's all good, down the bottom of the garden for a vole and or squirrel dinner. cameras caught the red fox crossing past even in the day! All in all, so happy for a hungry carnivore.
