Nice!
Are the nasturtiums used as a companion plant?

Yes, but we also use them in salads. One of my favorite plants.

Very pretty cauliflower. Nice big kohlrabi. Your nasturtiums look so pretty , love them in a garden.

Love those! I just started my cauliflower, and kohlrabi seeds last week, along with many other cold weather crops.

@karstopography They are beautiful! It's nice to know that you can still grow and eat something fresh from the garden at the end of January. Enjoy!

@PlainJane I've never seen nasturtiums that are fringed like on the left of your last photo. So pretty! What is the name of that one?

@peebee, those came from a packet of ‘Phoenix’ type nasturtiums from Renee’s Garden Seeds.

They're tough as nails! I didn't cover them (on purpose just to see) but they took the 19 too and didn't blink much either. Like yours, they looked a wee bit wilty but perked right up afterwards. I've got Blauer Spec and Kolibri going out there. I'm going to let a few Blauer Spec go to seed for saving.karstopography wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 11:26 am IMG_3176.jpeg
Early White Kohlrabi is evidently hardy to 19° . The plants looked a bit wilted after the freeze mid month, but they look great now.

Re: Good Haul Today
@GoDawgs I’m surprised how well the garden did considering the temperatures. Not much was killed outright. Robinhood Fava were killed. Some things got damaged a little.
I picked an Early Jersey Wakefield cabbage to go with the kohlrabi. Cabbage in general is probably the most reliable brassica I grow. They all seem to head up sooner or later. Kohlrabi has been good also. Broccoli is touchy, the freeze damaged it, some of the older leaves, but even before the freeze it was not all that good. I should give up trying to get good broccoli.

Daughter harvesting some nice broccoli in her New Waverly, TX garden. Not sure the variety, but she started from seed. She has access to on site cow manure and it is getting worked into the soil.

Those are beautiful! It's broccoli time here too. I might have to start freezing some as I'm running out of ways to fix it. LOL!
