Re: Hello from New Jersey, USA
greetings from da U.P.
currently very sunny, a delightful day, but man, you should see the snow on the ground.
we manage to grow tomatoes here once the snow melts. coming up on seed starting time.
getting close, but not just yet.

New Jersey -- The Garden State! I recently saw a license plate, and apparently they have dropped that. NJ, like so many other places, including Kansas
, often gets judged unfairly or pigeon-holed. But I know it's a beautiful place. Welcome!

That's a good question. One that I can't answer as of yet.

@Mrs.TomatoHead Like Shule I missed your introduction somehow. A belated but hearty welcome to the forum from the White Mountains.
I love your tower stand for seedlings! Can you tell us more about it? I too start seeds in my basement under lights but I'm running out of room and need to figure out some vertical solutions to increase the number of seedlings I can start.

Bee happy and pollinate freely!

Thank you so much! A lot has happened since I joined in March 2023. I started a community on Facebook called “Tomato Lover’s Collective & Swap” which is where all the newcomers are coming from. It is a place just like TJ where tomato enthusiasts come to share, have fun, learn, and celebrate the tomato!
I also have a weekly show on YouTube called “Lauren’s Tomato Awesomesauce” and a monthly show I host with Jen Joy called “Tomato Talk Live!”
Tomatoes are my passion, and it is so wonderful our groups have joined forces so we can all celebrate tomatoes together!

Thank you so much! The shelving unit is just a cheap plastic unit from Home Depot. My husband installed grow lights underneath each tier that hang so they can be lowered and raised.FatBeeFarm wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 5:07 am @Mrs.TomatoHead Like Shule I missed your introduction somehow. Obviously, the seedlings only stay there for a limited time as they grow. I do have tabletop grow lights that are adjustable throughout my basement (which is now a big grow room!). The seedlings move there as they get bigger.
And I’m big into micro dwarfs and grow them under those lights all winter long. In my group “Tomato Lover’s Collective & Swap,” we are getting ready to start MICROPALOOZA on September 1 where we grow micros indoors all winter long!
Happy to meet you!
