Need to deter carpenter bees!

I want to deter them. NOT kill them. I love my carpenter bees; they're sweet, they pollinate my garden and they'll keep the wasps off me if I'm standing near one patrolling. I've even pet idle ones before. One was taking a personal interest in my presence by flying around me and almost landing on me. ❤ They make nice little fans to. But they are being a nuisance by tunneling all in the wooden parts of the carport, porches and steps. Is there anything I can spray on the wood that will run them off but not harm them?
