Yellowfire

Last year I planted a variety labelled 'yellowfire' that I received in a seed swap. It was so good! But I cannot find any seeds for sale anywhere. Anyone familiar with this variety? Roma shaped, yellow with orange stripes/streaks, very flavourful.

Sounds a bit like striped Roman.

It does, and the pictures I've seen of striped roman are very similar. Makes me wonder if it is one and the same, but someone called it Yellowfire? Planning on planting striped roman this year, but wondered if it was indeed a separate variety?

Did you save any seeds or do you have any left? You never really know what seeds that you are getting from seed swaps. Names do get mixed up and seeds are not pure. If you do have any seeds for your 'Yellowfire' I would plant them side by side with Striped Roman and see if there is any noticeable difference between the two.

Just googled Yellowfire tomato out of curiosity, came up with a number of sources in Europe and a couple in the US, one of which states that it is a Fred Hempel breed variety and is listed in favorite vendors thread, Renaissance Farms

I have grown Yelow FIre from Fred (Artisan). Your description matches his variety.

It is a bicolour paste by Fred Hempel (Artisan seeds).
I think it Should be available, try AP Whaley or Fred Himself.
Fred is a member here, perhaps message him.

Fred doesn't list it at his site. Perhaps replaced by Marzano Fire?

I just handled a pack of Yellow Fire last week. But, Captain Hook doesn't remember if he got the drops with that one and sent it out (unrequested), didn't send it out, or sent out seeds from just part of the pack. If someone really wants seeds, I'll look to see if I still have some.

Here is where I found it and it is a GREAT paste tomato!

https://www.renaissancefarms.org/produ ... re-tomato/

He carries some hard-to-find varieties, including Curtis’ Cheek, and reading the descriptions and stories are fun, too. Shipping reasonable.

You will surely like this one!
