Tomatoes in Aerogarden or Kratky

Has anyone grown TASTY varieties in an Aerogarden or Kratky. I really don't want to spend months growing a micro that tastes bitter, and I seem to remember that Tiny Tim fits that description. I'm wondering if the "Heirloom Red" that AG sell is any good, and if House would work in a Kratky jar.

I have found that the first harvest from micro dwarfs is not nearly as good as subsequent ones. Jip and Jenneke have been fairly good for me.
SO GLAD to be back! I was locked out for about three months, for some strange reason.

Missed you all terribly!

Stitchingmom, I had the same problem with being locked out for a long time, and eventually asked for help. I wish I had asked sooner (just thought it would eventually work again). The mods here are very helpful :).

I have not grown any tomatoes in my AeroGarden that tasted any good. The first time I grew the AG yellow and red varieties, then I grew some micros that I also planted in parallel in some pots...the AG ones were terrible, much worse than the ones in the pots, and basically inedible. I'm not growing any this winter, I think a tent would probably be the way to go, although GoDawgs (I think?) did pretty well last year on her table inside with a Maglia Rosa if I recall.

Setec Astronomy, many thanks! That's the conclusion that I'm coming to.

Someone did a comparison between Tiny Tim and Red Heirloom (varieties that are sold in AG pods) and concluded that they are the same thing! Too bad for me, as I had hoped that R.H. tasted ok as it seems to be compact. I was considering trying Red Robin because I know it tastes ok (in soil), but it grew tall under the lights for me.

Perhaps I will just stick to greens in the AG's.
