2025 U.S. Championship Cheese Contest
Held, to no one's surprise, in America's Dairyland, Ashwaubenon to be specific.
https://www.wischeesemakersassn.org/eve ... %20classes.
Ashwaubenon, a suburb of TitleTown, is no stranger to Championships; that's where you'll find Lambeau Field, home of the 13 Time World Champion Green Bay Packers.
"Home-state producers also took first place in 23 categories, placed second in 24 others and had 25 third place finishes in the contest hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association." The Gotch

Re: 2025 U.S. Championship Cheese Contest
Cheese is something. Crazy number of different types. Like as crazy as tomatoes. I could see myself at a cheese competition as some sort of guest taster or morale booster. “Your cheese is great! It’s sure to win” “Let me have another piece please, it’s just so great!”
We eat our share of cheese. Our cheese drawer in the fridge is pretty loaded. Comté is my new favorite cheese. We had post oak smoked cheddar cheese on our sandwich yesterday at lunch. I think mac and cheese is on the menu tonight.

Mostly up in the Panhandle. I’ve always wondered what Texas gulf coast salt grass fed brahma cow’s milk and cheese would be like. If it was distinctive and delicious enough, maybe there’s a business opportunity there, but I wouldn’t want to be the one to try and tame one of those wild cows enough to hook up to a milking machine. In Italy, they make mozzarella from water buffalo milk. I’ve had it before and it’s really good.
My daughter had a Jersey cow for a while and has made her own mozzarella from the milk. She might still have a milk cow for all I know. That kid buys and sells more animals than anyone else I know. If you need a zebra, blackbuck antelope or a wildebeest she’s the one to talk to, a garden variety dairy cow is a piece of cake.

Brahmans get more bad rap than they deserve.
We had brahmans and mixes and all but a handful would let you do anything you wanted with them.
They would even let my dog hang out with their new born babies.
It's all how they are treated and raised.
The usual wild cowboy yee hi method doesn't work.
We didn't drive ours we called them.
The biggest problem was all of them wanting to be scratched and petted at the same time.
If they saw us in one end of a 100 acre field they would come running and mooing.
But once they get mistreated it's really hard to gain their trust.
Vaccination and worming time was a breeze all things considered.

True. @worth1 I saw this past weekend a big herd of brahma and brahma mixes out on the Perry Ranch (near the mouth of the San Bernard) those are some rank cattle. From the edge of the river they stared at us for a moment while we fished and then thundered off all at once into the brush and scrub. Probably the constant harassment by mosquitoes, coyotes and rattlesnakes makes them so wild. Regular Working with the cows and feeding them ought to gentle any cow up.

One of our neighbors bought 7 cows and they took off to the forest and he never got them back.
We would see them sometimes on the road.

It's a wrap; WESconsin dominated with 55 first-place finishes among the 117 classes. Vermont (2nd) with 13 first-place finishes, and Idaho 3rd with 10 gold medals.
