baked the last of thelma sanders sweet potato.
thats it thelma is done for the season.
the last three are baked. i will be growing more than the one hill i grew last year.
that one hill out produced the four hills of scarchuks supreme i had planted. it was
a bad year for scarchuks. thelma is a very good squash in my opinion. she does pretty
well year in and year out whereas scarchuks might be a little less tolerant of weather
changes.
jungs says thelma sanders keeps until christmas, but thats incorrect. these last three were
in pretty good shape still and prolly would have kept a couple more months.
i will grow thelma sanders over any other acorn squash for flavor, and yield. still have to get
scarchuks in the mix, but it can't match thelma for yield.

Thanks for that information. I saw that in their catalog this year and almost ordered it. Next year for sure and see if I can keep these danged SVBs away from it!

scarchuks is supposed to be squash vine borer resistant, you might want to give that one a try.
