It was working yesterday - I think. It does go off once in a while. We just cross our fingers and hope that it hasn't disappeared forever. Such a valuable resource!

In theory this is a permanent wayback machine snapshot of the database for when it's down/gone for good (pls no)

Re: Tatiana’s database
This is not a permanent image. Tatiana's tomatobase is fully functional, only people who have permission to upload something there are not active. That's why the database only looks like a permanent image. Last year I switched from taking photos with a normal camera to taking photos with a mobile phone and I am not able to upload the photos (even if they are jpg) to the database even if I edit them, for example, with Irfan View or Paint. If anyone has an idea how to edit the photos so that the database accepts them, I would be happy if they told me. I would like to try it. Putting only descriptions without photos in the database seems unnecessary to me. If I manage to grow the Dwarfs this year and take photos, I would add them to the database.

Re: Tatiana’s database
@MrBig46 that does seem odd. If you download or send your cell photos to your computer and edit them with your usual photo editing programs calling them .jpg they should be no different than before. Are you tryng to upload from your phone now? Can you rename them with something short rather than retaining the original camera numbering after editing on the computer? What error message, if any are you getting from the database when you try to upload?

Re: Tatiana’s database
It's a Cloudflare Tunnel error. This seems to indicate that the website owner was trying to implement one of those `click here to prove you're human buttons`, and something went wrong. I'm guessing it'll be fixed soon.
Last I checked, before today, the site had no Cloudflare functionality as far as I recall (maybe the registration process did, but I didn't check it).
Here's what ChatGPT thinks it means:
An **Error 1033** in the context of **Cloudflare Tunnel** generally refers to a **connection error** between the Cloudflare edge and the server that you're trying to connect to via the tunnel. It's a Cloudflare-specific error indicating that the tunnel setup has failed, or there is some issue in establishing or maintaining a connection through the tunnel.
Here are a few common reasons why you might see **Error 1033**:
1. **Cloudflare Tunnel Misconfiguration**:
If your Cloudflare Tunnel setup isn't configured properly, such as incorrect routing rules, incorrect configuration in the `cloudflared` config file, or issues in the domain or service setup, it could result in a 1033 error. Double-check that the configurations (like the origin server and Cloudflare settings) are correctly set up.
2. **DNS Resolution Issues**:
Cloudflare Tunnel relies on DNS resolution to properly route traffic. If there is an issue with your DNS settings, or if Cloudflare cannot resolve the destination correctly, it could cause a connection failure.
3. **Firewall or Security Group Blocks**:
Sometimes, if the server you're trying to connect to has firewall rules that block incoming traffic from Cloudflare's IP ranges, this error could occur.
4. **Cloudflare Service Outages**:
In rare cases, there might be issues with Cloudflare's own services (either globally or regionally) that cause the tunnel to break or fail to establish a connection.
5. **Outdated `cloudflared` Version**:
Using an outdated version of the `cloudflared` client might also trigger errors. Make sure you’re running the latest version of `cloudflared`.
### How to Troubleshoot:
1. **Check `cloudflared` Logs**: Examine the logs for more specific error details related to the tunnel and connection setup.
2. **Check DNS Settings**: Make sure your domain’s DNS settings are correct and properly point to the Cloudflare service.
3. **Update `cloudflared`**: Ensure you're using the latest version by checking the [Cloudflare Tunnel documentation](https://developers.cloudflare.com/cloud ... nnect-apps).
4. **Firewall Settings**: Verify that no firewall or security group is blocking Cloudflare's IP addresses.
Would you like guidance on any of these specific troubleshooting steps?
End of ChatGPT's answer.

Re: Tatiana’s database
At one time in the beginning, I thought Tania's son was somewhat involved in the tech maintenance part of it, I could be wrong. I wonder if anyone has contacted her to indicate there are problems. Since she doesn't do much with it herself anymore, perhaps the errors only come up for outside users trying to access it, and the people within the local server are not aware ???

Re: Tatiana’s database
It means something was probably wrong with how her captcha service was set up. Captchas are what websites use to make sure you're human. They use them so robots don't use up all your bandwidth and stuff. They also use them to make sure fake people aren't registering for services. Also, to make sure they don't take mass amounts of their data.Tormato wrote: ↑Thu Feb 20, 2025 12:31 pmCan I get the English translation of this post?Shule wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 4:35 pm It's a Cloudflare Tunnel error. Re: Tatiana’s database
This morning, Tatina's database is working. I tested whether the option to add new varieties including pictures works. I added a new variety Lyana Rozovaya including a picture taken with a Nikon camera.

Re: Tatiana’s database
I like going back and looking at Tatiana’s website from time to time. There were a couple of Texas based tomato growers, one very nearby, that grew and reviewed a number of varieties roughly 15 or 20 years ago. Based on their positive reviews and success with various tomatoes I decided to try growing some of these same varieties. No where else did I find that quality of information on specific heirloom tomatoes dialed in to a local tomato grower or area. Basically, Tatiana’s was (and still is) a bright and clear signal on tomatoes in a sea of noise.
The noise tends to be this or that tomato isn’t productive or can’t be grown here or doesn’t perform well in certain regions, but Tatiana’s had proof that many statements made about heirloom tomatoes and their performance in different areas aren’t necessarily true. The noise around here, local information sources (not TJ) has always been you must grow hybrids, but Tatiana’s had irrefutable evidence to the contrary. For that alone, I’ll be forever thankful for Tatiana’s.

I wonder if Lyana Rozovaya is the same as the Raspberry Lyanna that Baker Creek has been selling for several years.

Re: Tatiana’s database
I can only compare the names Rozovaya Lyana and Raspberry Lyanna. The name Rozovaya Lyana is just a transcription of the name in Cyrillic into Latin. Raspberry Lyanna is neither a transcription nor a translation of the name from Russian. If they were the same plants, then the person who renamed them must have had some reason for it, which we will not find out today. It is difficult to judge, only by growing both plants next to each other, and even that is not a guarantee that a clear decision will be made. From my experience with Czech tomatoes, I know how difficult it is.

I found out why I couldn't upload my photos from my phone to Tatiana's Tomatobase. The problem was that I used, among other things, Windows accessories to edit the photos, specifically paint. If I just use Irfan View 64, I have no problem.

I'm so glad you found the solution, please keep on adding info to the Tomatobase, it is most valuable to the rest of us.
