anyone use regular sticky fly papers, like the ones in a roll you pull out and hang up. to help with gnats and aphids in a greenhouse?
did it work?

I did try it way back when and it was not very successful. Not even for the flies. As Marsha has taught us, the Seabright yellow stickies are the best. They are not so sticky as to catch the birds but sticky enough for the insects.

I have also tried fly paper for flies, when I had an infestation of them, and it was not very successful. Also didn't see much else on them. Yellow helps with other bugs much better, and I still have some of a 250' roll I got several years ago. Just be sure to wear gloves, when handling. Only some major solvents get that stuff off!

Its a good warning.
I found out how to get the Seabright Labs glue out of your clothes. Its a 2 step process. first use any kind of salad or cooking oil and rub in super well, next hit the oil spot with dish soap and water and rub in. Works pretty well.

Not much luck with the modern fly paper pull down thing here either.

My wife rescued a big hog nosed snake from one of those cruel sticky mouse bate trap box things at my neighbor ladies house.
She used cooking oil and gave the darn thing a bath too.
That woman trusted everything I told her about critters even picked up an opossum with her bare hands.
If I had my life to do over again it would be working with critters.

The worst thing about those fly papers is getting caught in em yourself. :o Yep, in the hair. At least the yellow traps are easier to see and not usually dangling in the wind.
