Number of Bell Peppers in 10 gal container

I usually grow one California Wonder Bell Pepper in a 14 inch nursery container (15 gal nursery pot actual size 10 gal). I have good luck with three plants in 25 gallon actual (95 liters) nursery containers. The extra plants seem to work together to provide a little support for each other. But what about the 14 inch x 17 inch 10 gal (35 cm x 43 cm x 38 liters) nursery containers? Is there any advantage to two plants in a 14 inch (35 cm) container? Mutual support but what about production? I assume production would not be enhanced due to over crowding but will the net result be less production?

I am contemplating the same for the tomato plants in 25 gal (95 liter) containers. I usually grow one tomato plant per 25 gal (95 liter) container. Is there any advantage to two plants in the container? One plant is already too big for a cage but if I trim the plants will I still achieve the same level of production? If I start with two plants I can always keep the better of the two?

as far as the peppers go, i have seen three gallon containers being an ok size for ONE plant.
so, i see no problem with two plants in a ten gallon container, maybe three if the plants don't
get really big. you would just have to pay closer attention to water and ferts. maybe trim inside branches
to open it up a bit. i would probably go two plants myself.

It's been my experience that peppers do better than tomatoes when planted together in a single "bigger" pot, in general. That's not to say I haven't had success growing more than one tomato plant in a pot. But it seems to me the peppers do better when grown together.

For the last 6 yrs. I have planted my peppers in 7 or 8 gal grow bags with excellent results. One plant per bag.
