A bit late... But better than never?

Well, I thought I had done this. Seems I did not post it somehow back in June. I came from Tomatoville where for some reason my credentials don't work anymore, even though they were fine for years. I recognize several people here! I started out on Gardenweb in the late 90s.

I used to grow tomatoes in IN, TN, AR, NV, and now 10a in CA across the street from Monterey Bay. It is cool here all the time which is different. Our winters are usually low 40s with highs in the low 50s and then summers are all fog with lows in the mid 50s and highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s. I have been here for a few years, but fall 2019 we moved to a space with a yard and so summer 2020 was my first season where I could grow stuff since 2010. Slowly building up a new collection which is going normally -- I think I need 6, I get 60... Normal tomato type math.

My personal favorites for tomatoes are yellow marble, stump of the world, aunt ruby's German green, and cherokee purple. Found out last year CP is not great here, but Subarctic Plenty was amazing and Brown Brandywine was not far behind.

I have always had a weird love of heart shaped tomatoes. I am slowly building a library of those along with many others. I look for a combination of flavor and production. I have to grow in totes here as we have a megaton of gophers.

I have a 2.5 year old son and another due in the fall. My son loves cherry tomatoes and so I am planting a few for him plus currants. So far his favorite is Yellow marble as it should be

Maybe people may recognize me on some FB groups too, loke Remy's grow out. Anyway, long ramble ends now. Thank you all for having me!

Yes! As someone who always had heat, I am looking at a whole new set of favorites! Thr gophers are a pain. If I plant anything in ground, they just let it live long enough that you gain a false sense of hope and then they suck the whole plant under -- or if it is a tree, just eat it off underground so one day it just falls over lol. Western pocket gophers remind me.more of mole rats with a heavier coat. They are mostly nocturnal and they don't really come above ground hardly. So you rarely catch a glimpse.
