Re: Jardín del Gotch
the early perfect italian, and holy italian that i got from ya a coupla years ago, the plants
i grew in pots in the back of my truck did well this year. not so well in ground. i have a micro
climate there in the back of the truck that makes it warmer for them. a good number of my
peppers will be there next year. hot peppers will be separate of course.

Spade Caking Clay is the kind of sticky stuff you's need to scrape off'n yer shovel with a spackling knife. The reference was born when I was tasked with clearing ~2000 sf/~186 sm of the dastardly Non-Variegated Bishops Weed and Lilies Of The Valley from our backyard. I wouldn't expect anyone not blessed with the...um...experience to understand.
I really shouldn't laugh, but I just had to! Sorry. Anyway, I understand that bishop's weed & lily of the valley grow only in shady places, so what did you then do with that space?

Re: Jardín del Gotch
@Jayne.
Yeah, that's pretty nuts to dig & haul 75 bucket loads, but that's OK! We're all nuts here.
Ha ha ha. Oh, I feel so at home now. By the way, not to boast, but that was 75 barrow loads. I'se a female, not a man, and not large & tough, so to this day I do not know how I did this, except that I really really wanted a decent garden. Then my husband sold the joint after a few years and the buyers took my lovely crop before I could harvest it (toms/winter squash/misc.other vegetables) except the garlic was ready, thank God, it being a warm year, so I did get away with that. Out of 2,000 sq. ft. I got about 90 garlic and the buyers of our place got everything else.
Stuff happens, doesn't it. Life is strange. We could be in a war zone. Well, that could happen, too, the way things are shaping up. Never mind - upward & onward!!!

Knocked down another few underperforming trees, let the Sun in, and transformed No Man's Land; I'll post some pics later.

Am looking forward to those photos. I love to see how people overcome gardening "challenges" of all kinds.

Re: Jardín del Gotch
those were peppers there gotch.
you had sent them along with daniel burson mater seeds, and wautoma
cucumber seeds. two of the three cucumber seeds sprouted, but did not
survive the rather harsh spring we had at the time.
that truck isn't quite vintage yet. its a 2000 model. rusted up a bit.
its seen better days

I'm thinking they'd be Gypsy and Roulette Hybrids, which are the only Peppers I generally distribute.
How'd the Daniel Bursons turn out?

Re: Jardín del Gotch
The Peppers you's see are all thick-walled, shiny, & wrinkle-free.
Four (4) were wrinkly, but the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch diced 'em up and her adoring husband put them in his (hers, actually) Blue Ribbon Chili last night.

Re: Jardín del Gotch
To follow up, they both prefer shade, but thrive (IMO) despicably no matter what. Sheesh, their opportunistic root reach exceeds their grasp; they're nearly unstoppable and their eradication is not for the faint of heart! Wish my Tomato/Pepper/Squarsh/Radishes/Cukes/Zukes/Kale/Herbs showed that level of survivalist moxie.
Anywho, what replaced the...um...previous residents: Above, Yew Maureen to the left of the patio/"Ho-Down," where was once grew a Cedar [similar to the one top middle] which provided some of the shade; it was lost to an early 2013 ~15"/38cm snowfall. Coupla Hydrangea after that. Just pulled some spectacular Elephant Ear Caladium that were in the (now empty) planters. Beyond is mulch & yard art, which this camera is unable to accurately depict. The stringy yellow detritus you see scattered willy nilly in both pics is the "thus far" remains from our neighbor's fall White Pine shed; and that was after I raked-n-removed six (6) 40 gallon/~151 liter barrels full. Part of the...er...removal area is now part of a deck. On one of the benches sit my prized Jades. They spent Monday night/Tuesday morning on the porch, but went back out yesterday. They're LUVin' the heck out of this Bonus Time; when they're happy, I'm happy!

What a fine yard & plants.
and that was after I raked-n-removed six (6) 40 gallon/~151 liter barrels full.
Do you have any spare time left in your life after all this labour? Just asking!

Re: Jardín del Gotch
Sorry to hear that, we had that kind of year with Daniel Burson in 2023. But a world without Daniel Burson is NOT one in which Jardín del Gotch would prefer to dwell.
C'mon, just take a gander at this here looker, sliced using the Anti-@Tormato method... The Gotch

The many-splendored Reverse-@Tormato Method is VERY RARELY deployed; when it is, it reveals a meaty Brave New Visage, does it not...?Mark_Thompson wrote: ↑Sat Oct 19, 2024 1:01 am I know you like to be a bit of a contrarian, but come on mannnnn, why you slicing your tomatoeS like that?
