I was surprised that this variety wasn´t brought up until now. I had read the rave reviews in the other forum and it was on my one of the must hunt down list! And lo and behold, I ended up with this variety from 6 different sources as well as a RL variety.

And there I have created another problem for myself - do I plant all 6 different sources and the RL. Just in case some do not turn out to be the actual variety…. hmmmmmmmmm…. the suspense…^-^

Then there are some others that I really enjoy.
Rebel Yell
Cherokee Purple
Paul Robeson
Daniel Burson
Dester
Carbon
Purple Dog Creek
Black Krim
Dana's Dusky Rose
Winsall
Rose
Terhune
Aunt Ginny's Purple
Limmony
Orange Russian 117
Owens Purple
and a few others. These are all favorites of mine and one year I will be growing them all out together to see how they compare (that year). You see tomato flavor varies from season to season. One may be wonderful one year and not so much the next. Your temperature, soil, moisture, nutrients and all kinds of things will determine the taste of your tomatoes. That is why it is so very important to know your growing conditions before we can answer your questions. Some tomatoes flourish in the heat, others like it more moderate. Then there is the issue that all of us have different taste buds. Not everyone enjoys the same flavors.
Have fun choosing your own favorite tomato. Only you can do it. It took years and years for me to come up with this list and yours will be different than mine.
The ocean is vast. Enjoy the fishing...
Thank you for sharing your personal favourites. I have all that you have listed and one of them is already on it´s way. Many of them made it in my 2020 grow list.

We have a fair amount of heat in Summer. And a shade cloth in the Polytunnel if it gets way too hot like it did last year. In a way it is a blessing that our area receives the least amount of rain in the past few years compared to the other regions. Would be way to difficult to control the amount of water for the outdoor toms if we receive too much rainfall shy of building a roof for them.

It will be too funny if Purple Calabash ends up as one of my favs

If the boss is OK with it, planting by the moon may mean the day before, the day of, and the day after a phase. I usually limit myself to planting about 100 in a day. I could do more, but that's when fatigue and the "dreaded drops" may begin.
Planting by the moon is a part of Biodynamics. I mentioned it in this thread

viewtopic.php?p=4682#p4682

The plant has 4 parts - root, leaf, flower, fruit(seed). Certain time/days/periods based on the moon phase and constellations are designated to the different parts of the plant. E.g. if the plant is harvested for its fruit, it is best to sow, plant, cultivate on designated ´fruit´days, it is deemed to give the best results etc. While if the plant is harvested for its root, best to complete the tasks on ´root´ days.

Can never ever forget the time when I was under intense pressure to complete planting about 200 green asparagus 1-year old crowns (on a leaf day) on one cold wintry April night in 2013. Armed with a headlamp and desperately working in semi-darkness and the hubby giggling away in utter amusement from the windows of our bedroom. OMG, those were the days!

How funny - after all the mess due to the heat in the last two years (with less to no production of the bigger varieties), I have decided to mostly grow "old" varieties that have done fine in the past (but these were years with less heat). The following have come into my mind (no alphabetical order);

Marianna's Peace
LaLeLi
Mirabella
Blush
Maglia Rosa
Pendulina Red, Orange, Yellow
Birdie Rouge, Yellow
Black Primal
Pervaya Ljubov
Taiko
Mischka (yes, I know, the name is not welcome here, but the tomato was good!)
Mr. Bruno
Coeur Français
Queen Marbena
Dancing with Smurfs
Lehrertomate
Sister Miriam
Benissoinante
Peardrops
Black Hole Sun
Palmyra
Coastal Pride Orange
Sophie's Choice
Sirja's Love
Limbo
Sun of Sultan
Zluta Kytice

Hopefully the germination will be acceptable, some seeds are very old...

@spero, there is nothing at all wrong with that name here. He gave of himself for many years, for which we are very grateful. Many of us here enjoy dual memberships and that includes myself. There is no animosity between us. It's just one big happy world with another gardening forum born.

dang! (am I allowed to say this?) In my defense, I wish to submit 2 pieces of evidence…and perhaps as your post suggests SOTW should be a single MUST GROW variety, hence perhaps a single post by itself too ;) Will need to pick on your brain further (later) with regards to the RL variety.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo  … those are the ones I wrote down from the tomato junction forum.

I have an actual spreadsheet categorised under

Heart
Pink
Green
Orange
Yellow
Red
Black/Purple
White
Bicolor
Striped
Dwarf (e.g. Dwarf Project)
Cherry

and added some of the suggestions. I just checked that my ´tentative´ list is now at 96 varieties… still have until mid March before I start sowing. Best to finalize end Feb. Or I will be in an utter state of panic!

But do keep any MUST GROW suggestions coming.

Thank you for the extra input… keep them flowing =)

Together, trees make an ecosystem that tempers the extremes of heat & cold, stores lots of water, & makes a lot of humidity. In this environment, trees can live to be very old. To get to this point, the community must remain intact no matter what.

and btw... a little birdy told me pee works to ´revive´ old seeds, I kid you not, I am game to try if it works, nothing to lose there ;)

soak the old seeds in pee (best to use early morning pee) for 12 hours, drain, do not rinse with water, then sow the ´old revived´ seeds.
