After pulling up partial Daikons numerous times, I've started slipping a trowel in to loosen the soil around 'em.

Re: Jardín del Gotch
I once read something about pulling carrots easier by grabbing the neck of the carrot and pushing it down before pulling it up. It sure works great! I wonder if you could do that with the long daikons.
BTW @rxkeith, do you remember what varieties were in that mix you sent into MMMM?

Put 'em in a new, previously unused space (under the Butternut Squarsh Trellis) which gets direct sun all morning and has GREAT soil.

Re: Jardín del Gotch
After spending nine (9) days up in majestically forested Iron County, I returned to (despite paltry rainfall) burgeoning plants whose inexplicable growth got them hung up under/outside their horizontal cage rims.
I nursed most under-n-up, but lost any number of 'em; a pain all you's have felt, am I right?
Glass half full?
After ~ five (five) hours of watering/weeding/pruning/training, was able to pull these here beauts--From top--Black Magic Zukes, and Wautoma Heirloom and WESconsin SMR 58 (AKA Mini-Watermelon) Cukes, destined for (respectively) Zuke Fritters, the lovely and long suffering Mrs Gotch's Cuke/Olive/Onion/Chickpea Salad, and Quickles: While a tad early...no complaints!

This baby's (one of The Gotch's BEST!) two (2) feet/.61 meters, it's truncated pal (whose severed portion was subsequently rescued) would've been bigger.

While sweet-smelling Peonies will always have a small corner of The Gotch's heart, the per capita fragrance factor of Oriental Lilies is off'n the chart.

Oh I so adore the scent of the Oriental Lily's. I wish I could grow them but those darned deer find them a delicacy. Gosh they ate every zinnia last night too and they aren't supposed to like them.

Honker Relocation Day, to a Zuke Bread making pal, ~ 30 lbs/13.6 kgs of Squarsh are dwarfing a 12 gallon/45.4 liter-18"/45.72 cm wide-14"/35.7cm deep Muck Bucket:

Re: Jardín del Gotch
way ahead of me in the squash, and cucumber dept. gotch.
it has been a slow start here. had to replant a couple times, but plants are starting to put on some bulk
after some very rainy days. just need some heat to stick around for more than a few days at a time.
i have one volunteer squash from last years volunteer scallop squash from the year before. i am looking
forward to what this one will look like.

Re: Jardín del Gotch
Had been keeping an eye on this King Kong (H/T @Yak54) for a while, went to pick it and found it had been ravaged by some dastardly critter; this was all that was left, which (mercifully!) was enough for our International BLT Day samitches.
