The folks that lived behind me years ago had some easter chicks for the kids.
Naturally they all grew up to be roosters.
One ended up being a pet that hung out around the house.
I named him Chicken and Rice.
When I came home from work 7 cats about 4 dogs and Chicken and Rice would come running to the truck all together in a gang to meet me.
They all got along with each other like buddies.
It was so funny seeing a big white rooster running along side dogs and cats and hanging out with them.
I always gave Chicken and Rice a handful of rice when I got home.

After 60 days of 100+ heat, that's absolutely amazing. Next year I'm planting nothing but Juliet and Super Sioux.

Hi @worth1 .. really lovely pictures of Juliet.. the only con I could think of is that it's a hybrid.. how many Juliet plants do you have? Where did you get the seed?

I bought the plants at the grocery store for about 1.50 each.
Two had two seedlings in the container but I paid for one.

I have 6 total.

As an aside for those who think I've gone mad. It's a reference to the benile random tweets that appear on twitter, or X for some, that pose a question like the below:

"I have 6 eggs, I broke 2 eggs, I fried 2 eggs and I ate 2 eggs , so how many do I have left. "

I sometimes respond , without looking first of course to the answers already given, cos it's so easy, and add comments to the 256, 212 other comments on the tweet with the answer only to find that the question is a trick question using present indicative and past imperfect to befuddle the reader.

The answer of course is I have 6 eggs. I never get it right.

I just can't resist answering. This time, I'm right. It's definitely $6.

@Amateurinawe
I got it immediately.
6 plants at 1.50 is 9.
The two free plants.
2 x 1.50 = 3.
9 minus 3=6.

I haven't posted here as of late but here I am now.
I let all the tomato plants dry up and die or I drowned them.
Whatever the method they're gone.
The swiss chard I had in the same container that the tomato plants in that I drowned out survived and are doing great.
The volunteer pepper plant didn't die out from lack of water so they are doing great.
I have dill planted in a couple of containers one were the peanuts were.
And in the round container.
I planted them yesterday.
We'll see how they grow in the cooler weather.

I just read that dill will be okay down to 25 degrees.
I had never known that because I've always seen it grown in the spring.
Then this year the mammoth dill just didn't do anything because it was planted too late.
The pepper plant isn't going to make it so I'll plant something in the container with it that will.

Not thinking one darn dill seed would sprout I put them all in the soil.
Well it looks like they are all sprouting.
I'll be thinning out dill sprouts soon.

My friend's greenhouse has been dill paradise for maybe ten years. So much dill sprouting, and she always let some grow tall among the tomatoes. Well last fall one of the hurricanes ripped off the cover, and they let it go fallow over winter exposed to the cold.
This summer their tomatoes were healthier than ever, but... not a single dill plant.
So it seems like winter temperatures can kill the seeds.
Glad to hear you got lots of seedlings, Worth!! I love dill.

I’m planting my dill seeds soon. Cold front will be here on Monday, I’ll likely plant them Tuesday.

Decided to talk to the neighbor and do some weeding in the dill.
Peppers producing and I was snacking on them.
I have about 3 plants all tangled up and they were fine.
Then I got one from the dreaded possible ghost pepper cross.
Looks like the rest but hotter than hell.
The minute I bit into it I knew I was in trouble.
I need to save seeds if I can determine which plant it's coming from.
