These are the pretty short 'Profusion Mix' from Swallowtail Gardens. They grow nice and full and stay about 8" tall so I put them at the front of my border. I really like them and this is my second year growing them. I must confess that I do remove all of the white ones though.

My town uses the short ones for their beds in the park and around town. They are delightfully colourful and last all season long. I have saved seeds from them and they did not come out as bright as the originals.

I'm loving the zinnia pics! My stand of plants this year isn't real pretty so no pics. There are plenty of flowers and a ton of butterflies but the plants have some funk at the bottom and they're really rangy this year, less well behaved than other years. Same varieties, same planting size, etc. Go figure.

Here in N. AL, mine are just starting to bloom this year. The cold wet spring put us behind schedule. Here are a few open with a white cosmos. No more than there are the hummers have found them already. Lots of buds coming on so in a couple of weeks or so it should be really pretty. Callas are done blooming but the foliage is still a nice foil. And we have a volunteer cherry tomato! Can't wait to see what kind it is. My money is on Chocolate Cherry.

[mention]SpookyShoe[/mention] We have several. My husband cut down at least 10 that were growing up into our power line. And every spring we pull a forest's worth of babies from the garden. It's usually a full day to get most of them out, the rest I pull as I can. But I love the flowers so several of the trees are on the "Do Not Cut List!"

I've collected about 50 varieties of zinnias over the winter. But, I haven't had time to plant them yet.

I just finished transplanting 170 tomato plants (there's the why I haven't had time for the zinnias), with about 10 more plants needing about a week to size-up before transplanting. The zinnias get sown with this week off from the tomatoes. I'm hoping to collect zinnia seeds for the MMMM swap, but that's a wait and see.

A grow bag of Profusion Double Hot Cherry zinnias.
I have had problems in the past with the Profusion line of zinnias' intense color to fade. I looked up this variety before I purchased the small plants and the claim was that the hot cherry color would not fade. As you can see it does.

Still pretty however.

I grow very few flowers, just for flowers, but last year I got some free zinnias from BC (Canary), and they were bee magnets! The canary was the first to open this year, and just a couple days ago I got an open blossom on one of my Envy plants, but it's yellow, not green, like it's supposed to be! The blossom has finer petals, like in the photo, but it's not at all green. Maybe the other 2 plants will be green, or later flowers. I can see the rest are all getting loaded up with buds! Nothing visible on the Mexican sunflowers (the only other flower in all of my garden), but good growth, and not a lot of growth on direct seeded zinnias (a test I did to compare), but it's early.

I've decided that next year I'm going to run baling twine down each side of any zinnia row to keep them from flopping over.

BTW, I spied the first gulf fritillery on one of the zinnias this morning. Usually they're here all spring and summer but none until now this year. Strange.
