Or was it Pinko, I couldn't remember exactly and wasn't going hunting here to find out. You would have the seed for it @TormatoTormato wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 8:21 amPinky?Whwoz wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2024 9:04 pm Planting tomato seeds now, 48 varieties in so far, way later than normal timing but should not be too late into the ground in a month to six weeks time. Going to have to go through everything later, can't find my Elbonian Mudball F6 seeds and North Elbonian Pinky seed so have gone back to th F4 that @Tormato sent to me. Pissed off with myself

Can understand keeping quiet about it @JayneR13 , keep it controlled and confidential and you should be good.JayneR13 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 08, 2024 9:01 am I have garden sorrel in my yard as well. It's considered an invasive weed here so if I don't pull it, the city will. Not only does the city charge a massive fee for this service, they're usually none too careful about where they tromp around. So I pull it quietly.
78 tomato varieties?? Wow! You have a large space. How many of each variety?
Garden bed is roughly 30m/100ft X 13m/40 ft so plenty of room. Most varieties will only be one plant, those favourites will be two or three and lots of sauce varieties going in this year. With Mum tearing her right shoulder rotor cuff in two places, sauce duties will fall to me this year.

Somebody hurt mine and it almost killed me.
I told him I didn't need any help but he grabbed a ladder I was carrying and rotated my shoulder joint in a way it wasn't supposed to go.
I was pissed it took over a month to heal.

The Garden Sorrel, known here by the kids as Lemonleaf, that I split up a few days ago is starting to move

Re: The Garden of Woz...
Got stuck into the next part of the garden late today, after mulching about 3 average house blocks worth of fog grass which was just starting to flower. Split up a couple of garlic chives into about 10 smaller pieces and shoved them back in
Tomorrows effort will be aimed at doing the same with the onion chives, which are a bit over grown
That will follow going to help the folks and time spent with the bee man

Re: The Garden of Woz...
Just couple of months before my 50th birthday I got a a hole torn in the tendon connected to supraspinatus and I do not know how it happened. I had been doing spring cleaning in the yard and next morning my right shoulder was in pain and I could not lift my arm. Since there was no accident and based on my "mileage" it was concluded that it was caused by normal tear and wear due to age. Because it was just a hole and not total tear, I had one year of physical therapy, during which the arm movement improved a bit, but I had no strength on my right arm and sleeping was difficult with the pain. It ended up being operated in July just before berry picking season started and I had to do everything just with left hand. Luckily our son was still living with us and he had to be my driver and help with harvest and cooking, when I had my right arm 5 weeks in a sling.
I am wishing your mom speedy recovery.

Re: The Garden of Woz...
Ah the injuries of living! First of all, I wish your Mum a speedy recovery. Rotator cuff tears are no small thing, sadly.
Once upon a time on the aikido mat, I was helping out with rank testing. The testee was trying to accomplish a joint lock called Nikyo, which basically makes the arm into a Z shape and a lovely control lever. I was moving my wrist just a bit to help when she got it, and cranked my wrist big time! I had a spiral fracture in one of the carpals that took forever to heal. Another time, I was investigating a karate dojo. The Sensei had me demonstrating my aikido with an uke who knew what he was doing. We were having great fun, so I tried a very advanced move called Dodekame Nage. I messed up and popped the metatarsals in my right foot, which took over one year to heal and still bother me on rainy days. But hey, it was fun, right? LOL
The garden is safer. All I can do there is fall, cut off a finger or a toe, prong myself with a sharp tool-oh wait-

The Hokowase strawberries are starting to pickup ripening when we get good weather here for them.
Tonights pick. Of interest to note, it is the smaller plants which are ripening fruit. Been thinking that this variety is one which would benefit from annual lift and replant and this seems to confirm it.

Close ups of different parts of Jupiter Snow Pea, showing leaf size, my hand is about 10/4 inches across, note to purple around the stem, this is apparently a feature with peas that coloured varieties match pod colour here

Re: The Garden of Woz...
We had a light frost yesterday, down to 0C/32F at the local BOM station. Most of the potentially frost affected plants were covered by buckets, with a number of peppers covered by mesh pots and plastic sheeting. Won't be doing that again, buckets only from now on
First photo, plant under bucket all good, second photo is one three mates to the first from a four pack of mixed bells. There were three plants to close together to separate, only the smallest survived. The other two cells worth and a Candy Cane were wiped outYou do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: The Garden of Woz...
Just checked the maybeology website and talk of 3C and possiblity of frost in the west, which could include us. I had put the buckets away, back out they came. At least I know what I am doing now. Saturday night into Sunday will be another one to watch.

We’re scheduled for a hard freeze early next week. Gardening season is done here. I harvested 83 lbs of tomatoes from the food pantry garden and started pulling plants. All that’s left are the winter squashes and those too will be done.

The daughter's latest aquasition is a pot full of Lillies, which has mostly been indoors with the wind that we have been having.
Flowers are nearly done, so it will be sent outside for next season. A lot of these would be grown as potted colour , sold and discarded when finished flowering, but not this pot.

Re: The Garden of Woz...
Jupiter Snow Pea is producing quite well, have picked several small hand fulls of the row for eating straight away, then yesterday picked over 1kg in about 15 minutes. Lots still coming on and plants only half height.
One plant has lost virtually all colour, just a few traces of purple on the pods off it. Might tag a couple for seed

Re: The Garden of Woz...
Seems we dodged a frost last night, no damage done to any of the plants even though we must have been close to frost temperature, considering that the local BOM station got down to 0.6C/33F overnight.
Worked up more of the veggie garden and planted 29 tomato plants, mainly Grosse Lisse, purchased when I thought that my own were not going to do any good. There are a good number coming up out there, will provide enough for the folks and more than what we need here, which is great
A further 4 peppers went in, including a chocolate Candy Cane so will see what that comes too. Some beetroot that I purchased several weeks ago is also in the ground, along with 8 watermelon seedlings and 6 mini muncher cucumber seedlings that have a trellis waiting for them to climb. A busy day following a busy afternoon yesterday when a mega punnet of Johnny Jump up violas, several deep purple petunias, a couple more strawdaisys and some other bee fodder went in

Some of the bee fodder that I have planted, with daughters help, in the last couple of days
This pot full was 3 plants that were separated. Will be keeping an eye out for seed.
A lobelia with similar colour
