Re: Shule's 2024 grow log
I picked the ripe non-cherry tomatoes. Based on how full the stockpot is, I'm guessing we'll have somewhere between 22 and 25 quarts.
Our first freeze is supposed to be soon (but probably not today).

Re: Shule's 2024 grow log
The striped bicolor volunteer eventually turned red. I don't know what happened. I thought it was a bicolor (and it seemed quite ripe that way), but now it's red. The plant recovered from whatever was afflicting it.
One of the Brandywine Pinks actually did get a virus (but not super badly). The others seem unaffected.
We got a few more ripe Celebrity F2s.
The red volunteer that I thought was part Cherokee Purple and maybe part Cal Ace VF stopped wilting and produced much bigger, firmer, more numerous fruit when the heat of the summer died down. I still think that's what it is.
I squished the rotten Brandywine Pinks onto planting sites for them to volunteer next year. There were about five of those that I didn't harvest in time.

We ate a number of ripe tomatoes that I didn't keep track of on my growlog, and we gave some to someone.

It turned out to be 19 quarts plus 8 ounces after the tomatoes cooked down.

Re: Shule's 2024 grow log
We got a light freeze recently, but the fruits still all seem fine. I harvested the unripe non-cherry tomatoes and the ripe non-rotten Caya tomatoes. I thought it was going to freeze again over the weekend, but that's not on the forecast for some days, at least. So, I'll probably have time to harvest the Galapagos Island tomatoes, too (I imagine there's probably about 20 quarts of those).

Re: Shule's 2024 grow log
Most of the unripe Brandywine Pinks were either still growing or undersized. That might be because I direct-seeded them, so they had a little less time to mature.
The red tomato that I think is probably part Cal Ace VF and part Cherokee Purple had the biggest unripe end-of-season fruits.
We got a lot of unripe Celebrity F2s.
I found a new volunteer that I didn't know about. It appears to be a red cherry tomato. It had a tiny plant with just a few fruits on it. If it is a cherry, rather than undersized, then it must be a cross, since I didn't have any red cherry tomatoes.
There were only a few unripe frutis on the striped bicolor to red tomato.

Re: Shule's 2024 grow log
That's why I prefer to transplant: more time to ripen in my shorter growing season. While some say I'll do fine my direct seeding, I'm too chicken to try right now LOL. So I transplant. It helps keep the rabbits out of them anyway. Rabbits don't seem to predate tomato plants after they grow to a certain size.
