Howdy! I live in Texas. I grow mainly antique roses and heirloom tomatoes. I like to track down the obscure ones. I started my tomato seeds in January and have transplanted them outside now. Last year I got a late start. I look forward to swapping seeds.

Howdy from a Texan not all that far from you. How are your tomatoes doing? Y’all have had more rain up west of Houston than we got to the south and more likely cold then me recently. We had 3-4 nights last week bottoming out around 50 degrees, some nearby spots around 46. How cold did it get there?

Have you found the Antique Rose Emporium in Brenham? They specialize in collecting old hardy roses.
And welcome. Where in TX are you?

This is kinda random for my second post here ever, but I have the most obscure rose with the best Texas story.
My grandfather worked for a guy who was friends with Lyndon Johnson. Papaw was the gardener/caretaker at the guy's ranch, and in due course got to know Ladybird Johnson and they kept in touch about flowers and such. She gave him some cuttings of the rose variety named after her in the 1970's, which were planted at the ranch and at my grandparents' house in Marble Falls. My dad and I rooted some from cuttings, and my 3 plants and my grandmother's 1 remaining plant are the only ones still in existence in the world, to my knowledge. I looked for more details about them, but could only find a 2003 article about the NEW Ladybird rose that said something like "there was a rose named after her in the 1970's but nobody could remember what it looked like." Well I DO!
I'm working on rooting more cuttings from my existing plant, and want to get this thing out there into the broader rose world just to save the piece of history. I'll keep one for you if you're interested.

I would love one! I would love to see a photo, to seee what it looks like and what type of rose it is, too.
