I got my Tomato Growers catalog last Friday

No more for me taking a break from trying to grow the others for the next few years hubby wants all micro next year told me to rest and walk away from the big ones.. he is right

The TGS catalog arrived today.

Pinetree Seeds catalog arrived in today's Mail

Pinetree is one I'm looking for, as a couple of their things I grow every year I used the last of, so need replacement.

Nothing yet! But I have enough seeds to fund the entire neighborhood for the next three years at least, so I'm not worried about it. The food pantry garden is planted largely by donations anyway so I won't have to start much for them, thankfully.

Update: I received my Seed Savers Exchange catalog as well! I'm sure Baker Creek and a few others will be following soon. I've also downloaded the TGS catalog. Some nice reading material over the winter.

I used to order from catalogues all the time but their descriptions of tomatoes and other veggies were no help at all. I never saw an entry that said "will fail to produce more than one or two" or "prone to every disease in the book" or "mediocre taste." I now depend on the wise advice of my friends in Tomato Junction to pick winners for my very small garden. If I had an acre or so of land I would be more adventurous.

No kidding! According to the catalog, every plant in there will produce enough to feed an army and resist every disease known and unknown! All we can do is try, and determine which grows in our specific garden. That's why I'm grateful for the MMMM swap! Adventuring is much cheaper.

...as are others all based in Randolph and most with a West Stroud Street address. I can't remember which big company started buying up seed companies but besides Totally Tomatoes there's also Jung, Vermont Bean, HPS Seed and a few others I can't recall.

@Cornelius. When did your Baker Creek catalogue arrive? I ordered mine on July 4th; they charged my credit card right away; and now I am wondering if they only recently started sending then out. Trouble is, we have a postal strike here in Canada, it started 10 days ago (Nov. 15th).

It is possible that the catalogue is now stuck somewhere between Missouri & Manitoba. I paid $18 US for the damn thing. Did you get yours for free by any chance because you are in the States?

Yah, Baker Creek catalogue is full of pretty pictures, but so what. I have been ordering from them for ages, every year.
