It just ain't right

I went to the state fair today, and they had vegan corn dogs.

I shall attend again, and try this blasphemous concoction.

To those Wisconsinites who've sensed a shift in the force, it is because your Hot Wisconsin Cheese mobile will be parked for 17 days just a few miles from my house. I mention this because if the corn dog tastes awful, my backup plan will be to smother it in a semi-liquified form of your state's yellow natural resource.

Cheese can just fix so much. This might require gravy and cheese.

Corn dogs. Hmm, perhaps you will get lucky. An ear of corn smothered in Wisconsin cheese. Vegan corn dogs just sound nasty to me.

A vegan corn dog might be something easier to pull off than other meat turned vegetable alchemy. The corn part need not necessarily change. Texturally, a vegan meatless dog should be doable. The flavor is a ? mark.

Slather on some mustard, should be good.

I would try it because it wouldn't kill me or make me sick.
But that doesn't mean I have to like it.
I accidentally got a soy patty burger one time and I spit it out.
It was nasty.
I don't normally spit food out if ever but there are exceptions.

Back before HEB got all fancy they had a good place you could get a meal or a corn dog and a drink and sit down.
My wife and I would get a corn dog before we started shopping.
Not anymore.
Now they have a sushi bar.

Poutine would be the 2nd, drastic, option.

An ear of corn, with a dusting of Mexican street magic, costs $11.

This is blasphemy! Corn dogs are sacrosanct and shouldn’t be treated in this way! What has this world come to! There’s good reason that Beyond Meat’s stock is in the gutter. Vegan corn dogs are a concoction of the Sith! Skip the blasphemous thing and go for some nice, wholesome cheese curds.

I've done the batter fried Wisconsin cheese curds many a time. One of my favorites at the fair. ;)

You may get lucky. My daughter had me take a bite of Portillo's vegan hot dog and I was impressed.

Hot sauce is not a condiment at that venue.

I didn't get hot sauce.
I tried to make that Canadian dish with gravy and French fries and cheese curds.
It was disgusting.
I might dip a French fry in white sawmill gravy but not brown gravy.
The idea of putting chili or anything that's wet on a crispy French fry is beyond me.
But as always to each their own.

A true Curd Aficionado (yours truly has them ladled out of the vat at Carr Valley [https://carrvalleycheese.com/] whose owner Sid is a pal) would never...EVER...eat 'em fried.

Mozzarella Cheese Sticks fried (https://www.google.com/search?q=Mozzare ... nt=gws-wiz)...sure...Curds...NEVER!!!!

Heck I never even refrigerate 'em; they lose that Squeak!

Vegan corn dogs were invented by Joseph Mengele. So if you buy one , you're tacitly supporting the Third Reich.

HEB cheese curds taste like play dough. Real cheese curds are actually quite good.

How true this is. If the cheese curds don't squeak, they are not a real cheese curd.

I figured something was wrong because they didn't squeak.

Or they've been refrigerated, that's why I'll never buy 'em anywhere but a Cheese Factory, a habit not shared by the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch.

They'll keep for three (3) + days on the counter...thing is...they never LAST that long!
