Leaf structure has changed

I took cuttings to clone the beginning of august and had a leaf left over I stripped off a stem.
For the heck of it I stuck that in soil also all the way so the leaf was flat against the soil.
I kept it misted every day and after 1 month the leaf is still alive.
Normally I just mist it, but yesterday I just poured water on it.
I noticed the water get absorbed or pass thru to the other side instead of just bouncing off
like a normal leaf.
I think that since it is super distressed, the leaf will grab moisture any way it can.
The leaf is nice and green but holey from bugs that were imported from bought pepper plants.
Curious to see how long I can keep it alive or if it will make any progress and put out more body parts.

I put the siblings outside during to day to take advantage of the bees.
Suyo long is the variety.
They were old seeds and only 3 popped from the packet.
That is why I cloned.
They are easier to clone than tomatoes.
