With creative carving I can have a BLT today with a real tomato.
4th of july hybrid actually ripe on the 4th of july.
Normally in this locale 1 week past the 4th,but I cheated and bought small plants with green tomatoes on them already.
Happy 4th of july!

I grew that type for decades and used saved seed.
After about 8 years it reverted back to original parent.
PL ribbed but small.I used to call it 5th of july to keep it segregated from the other plants.
Determinate so I decided not to invest the real estate planting it again.

There used to be only 1 greenhouse that sold it locally, but it finally caught on and multiple outlets sold it this year.
I had to wean it into direct sunlight to avoid sunscald.
It's siblings just have green tomatoes now outdoors.

I had to start staking tomato plants.
I lost a big green mortgage lifter to mice bites.
I did find another red 4th of july hybrid hiding on me,
so it was worth the blood sweat and tears.

Indoor vs outdoor ripeness progress was weird.
Outdoor they went from green to green/red to red.
Indoor they went from green to light green to pink to red.
Bacon on my breath now.
