The field next to the garden is covered in yellow flowers. It happens every year about this time.

Some of last year's seed found its way into a corner of the garden.

As usual, inquiring minds want to know so I started looking for an ID on it and found it. This is Small's Ragwort, also known as Appalachian ragwort (Packera anonyma). It's the smaller and non-toxic perennial cousin to a few other toxic-to-livestock ragworts. This one has only 8-9 petals whereas the others have about 13-15.
