Indoor Pepper and Micros Progress

During the drabness of winter I have to have a few indoor things growing. It helps scratch the gardening itch.

Here's the Tangerine Dream pepper. The largest one is 3.5" long. There's an orange colored thing projecting from the point of it. The smaller peppers have a white one. I've never noticed these before and wonder if orange means the pepper is about to start changing color. Any thoughts about that?

This is the oldest of the three Red Robin micro tomatoes. Almost ready!

Red Robin #2 is starting to load up little greenies. #3 is starting to flower.

I have a dwarf 'Premus' going and it has maxed out at 2' tall. It now has five greenies on it. Interesting shape. The tomato is 1.5" across so far. It's supposed to make 2" tomatoes.

Maybe those aren't peppers, maybe they are body snatcher pods--look out!

I'm envious of your ability to grow such beautiful plants indoors. I tried growing a bunch last year, didn't really work out.

They're turning! There was a hint of it two days ago but now they're turning fast. This is the first time I've tried a pepper indoors and Tangerine Dream seemed to be of a size that I could handle.

I guess my question about that little protuberance coming from the pepper tips was right. White is unripe and when it turns orange it's starting the ripening process. Live and learn!

There are some started mid May out on the pallets with the bigger 'maters and they're doing just fine. I need to get some pics. They sure grow bigger outdoors! Got Golden Hour, Krasny Milo, Mini Marzano, Mohamed, Orange dream, Pendulina Orange and Tartufo growing. Of course, growing outside also means being subject to funk that they never get indoors.

Last night I was watching Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. He was in Calabria, Italy. I was half paying attention when I heard him talking about and raving about Tartufo. Hey, that's a micro I'm growing! Turns out Tartufo is a gelato dessert that's famous in that region. It has melted chocolate inside a ball of gelato and the outside is dusted with cocoa powder. The word tartufo means truffle in Italian and the dessert kind of looks like a big truffle! One never knows what you'll learn!

I need to pick four to start for fall/winter indoor growing. Thanks for the reminder!

Your plants do look lovely! I've noticed too that plants grow larger and produce better outdoors, but winters up here grow nothing but snow. I can grow maters in my hydroponics units but the time I tried growing in pots under grow lights didn't work very well. In fact, my AG tomatoes have set and look fabulous! Right to left: Minibel, Pendulina, and Venus.
