Battery fires.

Putting it here because I think more people will see it and I care for people.
I saw it this morning on the way to work.
Please don't charge your lithium batteries unattended.

Good point. Discarded lithium batteries in recycling dumpsters full of electronics also make nasty fires.

All batteries here have to go to be recycled via the hazardous waste stream.
Hazardous waste stream in general is a PIA, with no municipal collection you have to make your own trip to the dump on the designated day once a week. They need to make these things easier to get full compliance.
With batteries though, there are numerous stores that provide drop off for recycling service, so it's easier than other hazmats.
