Re: Winter Daphne
Thanks Linda! This is an old shrub indeed. It first lived on the shady side of the old house for ages. Then when the new house was built further back on the property I held my breath and transplanted it to an area under a big oak tree behind the new house. So it's been 20 years since the transplant and, shoot, maybe at least another five or more at the old house. An old plant indeed!

Re: Winter Daphne
Well good for you GoDawgs. It's great that it survived being moved
.
I had two of the Carole Mackie variety and both got really big with thick trunks which eventually broke and died. The second was a cutting that I took from the first one, and the same thing happened to it. I should have done some layer propagation when I had the chance. It's actually not that difficult to propagate them from stem cuttings if you need more plants.
I really loved mine, and should probably treat myself to a new plant in the spring.
