Have a Favorite Micro Dwarf ?

Researching micros , one article I came across said Aztec is a top micro for flavor. Tonight I'll watch a few more videos about them if I can stay awake after digging up sod all day to plant roses.

Anyone have a favorite micro dwarf ?

So far I liked the Vilma’s I have a bunch started including Aztec.so I’ll make a comparison

There are a couple of threads with some discussion on flavour from previous years.

So far ive only tried bonsai, pinnoccio orange, inkspot and curly kaley. The only one Im growing again is bonsai.

Im looking forward to @AKgardeners review after this season. @GoDawgs also has grown a lot of them and commented a lot on results.

All of them look like fun to grow. I planted Vilma, Jocalos, Tiny Tim, and Inkspot. I wanted to plant Groovy Tunes but I'm worn out and have to stop somewhere.
Heritage Seed Market has a bunch to research for next year. Gold Pearl is pretty, Chubby Bunny is cute, and Fat Frog is - well, it's pretty ugly, it might grow on me.

Vilma and Pinocchio Orange are the best for flavor from the ones I've grown. Inkspot is good, too, when it's grown outside. When it's an indoor plant the flavor is just so-so.

It's hard to say since I've grown about 35 varieties over time. Pretty much Jochalos, Pinocchio Orange and Red Robin. But then they've all been grown indoors and I'm sure that affects the flavor of them. I'm going to start putting them outside now that warm weather is here and then do more taste checks..

Pygmy for production and was not bad especially if really ripe, Baby had a few with big tomato flavor and for the size was pretty productive. However it is one of the short flat growing micros which means the tomatoes hide in the leaves. For me Rosy Finch was the least flavorful but they are lovely big grape shaped cherries.
I will be growing Pygmy again this year as well as Yellow Pygmy among my 10 or so varieties of micros I am trialing.

Most of my micros are blooming already before they have been outside I have a lot to try that’s for shure!! On the bigger side of micro little bing and balcony miracle they were really good to me at least balcony was sweeter . But they both had thick skins but flavor wise I would grow again

Sorry, Johnson's Cherry is not a micro, but a dwarf. It's a nice one.

AZGardener , I'm glad you mentioned it ; I might have ordered Johnson's Cherry if I had known about it before. It's certainly a consideration for the next tomato garden.

Im defenetly going to try it next year since my climate is friendly to cherries and my balcony likes dwarves.

One of the very best is Patio Choice Yellow F1. It is slightly larger than a mico -- I call it a mini-dwarf. For me about 18" or so tall. Very good production and nice sweet taste. It is an AAS winner and its picture is here:

Sweetness is lacking in virtually all the true micros I've grown. Basket tomatoes (Tumbler, Lizzano, Terenzo) that I've grown almost always taste better than micos, IMO. If I absolutely had to grow a micro, it would be Aztek (yellow). It is one of the larger micros. A lesser second would be Red Robin. I've probably grown 20 or so different micros, and only Aztek would make the cut for me.

i haven't tried the basket tomatoes, that's a new term to me.
Yesterday my son pointed out all the tomato pots in everyone's front yards in the neighborhood. There was a terrible thunder storm, I'm glad I could quickly move my micros up to the covered porch.
Aztec is one I have read about before as being one of the best.
