Baby Micros Started
I have four more baby micros up and running and thought I would post a pic to show the differences in growth rates. All four were started 21 days ago. The tallest is 3" (7.6 cm), the shortest 1.75 (4.5 cm)"
Left to Right: Minibel, Fat Frog, Lille Lise, Curley Kaley.
The Fat Frog and Curley Kaley are new to me. The Fat Frog looks to be a very sturdy plant!

Re: Baby Micros Started
During the brief break in rain Saturday I potted up those four micro tomatoes. Left to right are Minibel (8.5"), Fat Frog (5.5"), Curley Kaley (4") and Lille Lise (6"). They were seeded on Feb 19. Minibel has already started making a few flower buds! Gosh, they grow so fast!

Re: Baby Micros Started
i just finished transplanting all the micros i started, twelve varieties all from youse guys and gals.
planted five seeds of each, sometimes six, oops, and have near 100% germination, so kudos to everyone
in their seed saving. all are only at first true leaf stage, so are still tiny. plan is to take the bulk of them into
work to sell to help defray the cost of dirt, and garden supplies. they will sell. people here have an overwhelming
desire for plants after our winter. its kinda like a shark feeding frenzy.
first ripe tomato is a baby micro on a plant from last year that just won't die. the plant has just enough green growth
on it to support three new tomatoes.

What varieties are you trying this year @rxkeith ?
I need to start gifting some seedlings but i struggle with separation and "what if I need a backup" thoughts.

Re: Baby Micros Started
I need help with "not so micros". When planned , everything fit fabulously in my sketch but the reality of airflow, sunshine, maintenance access ( and my succulent addiction) is making things difficult at my balcony.
I have dark stripe, whipper snapper, and maglia rosa seedlings. I have 1 gallon grow bags, a 1.7 gallon pot and 4 gallon grow bags. I initially was going to put them all in 4 gallon bags but at least one has to budge and downsize. (And it might need to be 2)
I was thinking of putting maybe the whipper snapper in the 1.7 one so I can put it against the railing and let it hang off the balcony.
But is that too small? Would dark stripe maybe do better in 1.7 gallons?

Re: Baby Micros Started
@Moth1992, in 2020 I ended up growing a few Whippersnappers in a 2 gallon nursery pot. And yes, they ended up hanging over the porch railing.

Maglia Rosa has been moved outside on the porch for her last days (after three rounds of tomatoes!) and it's about 3' tall. Also in a two gallon nursery pot. I cut the leader earlier to keep it from growing past the lights so I'm not sure how tall it would have gotten. Wispy foliage.
I've never grown Dark Stripe.

Re: Baby Micros Started
Ok micros and whipper have all been up potted to their long term pots. I hope whipper can handle that size. Maybe later in the season I repot it to something bigger if its not doing well.
The rest go in bigger pots and im waiting until it gets warmer next weekend so I dont have to bring them in.
I need to start giving away seedlings. One went to my neighbour. The rest ill take to work once im dead sure i dont need backups.

Re: Baby Micros Started
It's still snowing here, so all I have are my hydroponics. I joined a Mini Tomato in a Can contest in another group. I have Farthest North in a can, Yellow Balcony (2, 1 in a can, and another I thinned out and put in an Aerogarden), and two Baby seedlings. I also have two Grinches and two Amethyst Jewels that are much older. The AJs are going into drip DWC buckets as they are about to out grow my AG Farm 24XL.
I plan to plant Adelaide Festival, Whippersnapper, Jip & Janneke, Cherry Falls, and Fat Frog. Saving seeds for sure for MMMM from Fat Frog. Next week I will be starting my regular sized plants in my seed starters in my Aerogardens. I have a minimum of 8 drip DWC buckets that I plan to put in my greenhouses. The rest of my plants will go in soil. I am hoping to transition to all hydroponics because I work full time and I am not getting any younger and will be able to grow more if it isn't quite as much labor.

SO GLAD to be back! I was locked out for about three months, for some strange reason.
Missed you all terribly!
