What's your favorite dual-purpose pumpkin?
What's your favorite pumpkin variety that works well both for Halloween (for Jack-o-lanterns) and Thanksgiving (for pie)?
Would you recommend Big Max?

Re: What's your favorite dual-purpose pumpkin?
In my experience, Big Max is larger than a carving pumpkin but is decorative. It does have a rather long shelf life unlike a pie pumpkin. It is on the dry side and not so sweet. Good as a cooked squash, not a great choice for pie.
I don't know the name of the variety that I grow, but I do have some seed that I could share with you. I do use them for Halloween and make some pies with them.
