DH and I both considered my potatoes as successes so I am looking over the offerings and trying to decide what to order. Things we learned late season don't have time so I need early to mid season varieties only.
I am wanting a storage variety to try this year as our favorites from last year are not good storage potatoes but we will be ordering AmaRosa and Adirondack Blue again. And while DH liked the Russet variety we had last year I was not a fan of them... So lots of reading and rereading and rereading I think I am ready to order.

AmaRosa - red fingerling this one is later but we both really liked it.
Natascha - an early yellow fleshed variety it looks like a good one to try
Adirondack Blue - mid season purplish blue potato we really liked the flavor last year and even planted late we got a decent harvest
Daisy Gold - mid season yellow flesh supposedly stores well another new to us variety
Kennebec - mid to late season white flesh good flavor, good storage

Hoping I made some good choices and we have even better luck this year then last.

Reading and rereading and rereading. Been there, done that, about a decade ago. Ordered potatoes, was sent a substitute without being notified. The sub was Irish Cobbler, which I was so pleased with that I forget, now, what I originally ordered. Green Mountain was the only other potato that I've grown. The reason I grew that one was that the catalog blurb said that Maine farmers grow Kennebec and Katahdin for market, but have a plot of Green Mountains for the family to eat.

Supermarket potatoes, here, aren't much on flavor, except Yukon Golds. It's unknown what the russet potatoes are, as for variety. Same with the colorful fingerlings, and the white "new" potatoes. Most are cheap this time of year, as they are locally grown, likely with an excess of product. Many years ago, one could buy a 50 lb bag for $5, as is, off the back of a truck. These were the last harvest of the season, having the thickest skins and the longest storage. You did have to go through the bag and pick out the few culls before storing them.

Grin we had stew the other day and the potatoes were tasteless mush. I looked at DH went where did these come from? Frozen stew veggies package BLECH neither of us ate the potatoes we have gotten spoiled by our fresh crop this year... Those disgusting things are one reason I was looking for varieties that would store well or at least one that would. I am also thinking some of those fresh potatoes we grow will end up canned this coming season.
I have vivid memories of being sent under my great aunts house to haul out potatoes for a meal or helping to dig new potatoes in their large garden. My other memory is the HUGE 20 plus pound Rattlesnake watermelons hawked from the back of trucks during watermelon season for a buck...

Potatoes in a frozen stew veggie mix? That just sounds wrong.

Mine are in the ground. Mostly Red Pontiac with some Kennebec and Red La Soda.
